This Evo 16 is also much better than the Evo 8 because also is standalone. The Sound is Excellent too!

Used to be an utterly fantastic value at under $600.
For being so straightforward... yeah, what an interface! The reviews saying this is close to the top for sound quality at 1/3 the price are pretty much spot-on, from what I can tell, and I'd previously used interfaces from MOTU for decades (and one from the legendary RME). Switching to the EVO has provided me with an excellent, painless and modern experience with drivers as stable as the RME in Windows 11, but a sound quality that has vastly exceeded my expectations. I'm recording high end synthesizers like Oberheim OB-X8 and Arturia PolyBrute 12 and this is working stable and transparent with almost a little magic dust sprinkled in, at low buffer sizes like 64 in Ableton, that is really making these synths shine! The driver updates both itself and the firmware of the device in one convenient step. Recent firmwares fixed any remaining issues I've been aware of being discussed as well. As for the auto-level sensing big green button on the front, I feel that is more for a quick sound check of a live band to start out, rather than being quite as useful with a line-level out item with fully adjustable gain like a synthesizer, but it's an interesting idea. Mostly, this interface just gets you a professional level of sound in a hassle-free chassis at a fair price for this many inputs. It only has one single annoyance where from what I can tell, you need to use the software to adjust the monitoring input levels where it otherwise could have been useful for basic mixing even completely away from the computer since it is powered by an A/C chord and not just USB. When the time comes though, I'll happily buy another or the expansion unit and stack them for more inputs, since I'm now used to their software mixer interface and don't have much to complain about. Although tariff and inflation have been hitting hard, thank you Audient, for the innovation in this space and at least attempting to democratize high-end recording a little.

Perfect for drummers.
There are many features about this that are fantastic. For the price point, I’m not sure that you can beat this piece of equipment. It is literally plug and play. I use it as an interface for ProTools 10. With a few minutes of technical adjustments, works flawlessly. For a drummer, it automatically sets levels. The eight inputs are critical for mic’ing six drums with two overheads for cymbals. Highly recommended.

STILL HAVEN'T RECEIVED RACK EARS!
So, first off, I'm coming from using many other interfaces with similar i/o and features . Focusrite Clarett 8PreX, Digi002, MOTO m4, to name some. I will explain what I do like and don't. Pros - Great form factor, it's the same footprint as a macbook pro 15" - Portable, fits nicely in a standard backpack or laptop bag. - Price (best selling point) - Includes the ADAT expandability - Software controlled Mic Pres (great that you can quickly recall gains) - The screen is nice quality - Sounds better then I anticipated - Uses standard IEC power cable. no wall wart. Cons - Ordered the free rack-ears, still haven't received them, been almost 2 months!!! - I miss having fast access to levels from the unit and seeing more indicators, you have to do a little bit of menu diving to see everything. (ex: can't look at inputs and output levels at same time) - No MIDI PORTS! (not an issue if you use USB midi controllers) - No SPDIF RCA port. a nice to have, but not too big of a deal - The Autogain feature glitches out, If I try to use it, I have to restart the unit to get all the channels to unmute and come back. Found it easier to just set the gain the old fashioned way. - Buttons are cheap on front, but to be expected - When using the headphone, hearing a little bit of digital/radio interference. I don't have this issue on other interfaces plugged into my same setup. Would be nice if you could use the XLR or TRS 1/4" inputs and switch between mic/line without needing 2 separate cables / connectors. I'm running from a patch bay so this doesn't allow me to share the jack. But this is probably not a standard thing people would want. All in all, I'm happy with the purchase, it's a great mobile recording rig for my band practices. I am looking forward to using it for expanding my Focusrite Clarett 8PreX via the Adat connection.

Great Brand and Device - Shouldn’t have bought used…
Honestly, I don’t fault Audient or the device itself. I believe it is probably a very solid device. Unfortunately though I think the particular unit I got (which was used, but allegedly in good condition) was actually damaged in some way and having technical issues. it never really worked so I had to return it. I’m bummed because I really was excited to try Audient’s hardware.

Excellent product and Protools friendly.
Love it. Will get another. Up and running in minutes. I do wish it would save my settings each power down. Like saving a scene.

I was looking to upgrade a Focusrite Solo and Line 6 M20d to do some band recordings. One only had two channels and the other while it can work as an interface, has about 2.5 seconds of latency and needed extra gear to get Headphone mixes. I saw the reviews of the Evo 16 and decided to give it a go. Did my first proper recording session yesterday and it worked perfectly; Cue mixes with "more me", simple level setting and instant response. I had never bothered with Talkback before but setting the function button to Talkback using the laptop built-in mic array worked great. What I hadn't expecting to use was the optical I/O but I have connected a Helix to this (with a converter) and it simplifies connections while keeping everything digital. If you need more than 4 channels of input and are working to a budget serious consider the Evo 16
