This is truly special flatware. I am sure that it would go through the dishwasher just fine. I expect that if they were used daily and run through the dishwasher daily, with the drier cycle you would start to see some drying of the wooden handles in maybe 25 years. I used a full flatware set with wooden handles that were lacquered, and after 25 years they started to show some damage, but they were still in good shape, but then they were not olive wood which is a much stronger wood.

Q: Does this set come in the wood hinged box that is pictured with a certificate of authenticity?

My daughter and I enjoy the Laguiole flatware, it comes in the wood hinged box and we keep ours in the box after washing. We have the box on the top of our sideboard. The olive wood handles are beautiful.

Q: are the knifes serrated? I would like non-serrated if possible.
