Q: Should the cord coming out of the top of the lamp be about 24 inches long? I'm not able to push it down or pull it through from the bottom.

The cord is really tight, but I was able to pull it carefully through the bottom.

Q: Is the lamp shade for the ombré lamp stark white when the light is off or is the shade off white?

This table lamp in the picture shown looks like a different color than the ones I have. The lamps I chose were umber glass with a light beige shade. This looks grey and white.

Q: Why does it show two different base colors? I like the lighter one in the picture. Is it when the light is on verses off?

The base is an amber colored glass which appears somewhat different in various light conditions. You can note that the glass appears lighter in the photos with the natural lighting behind the lamp. We love this lamp and find it to be very attractive.
