The CDs all fit into it, but the book would neither close nor zipper. It was time consuming to do it only to turn around and take them all and put them into a new book that would zipper when finished.

Q: Does the whole cd case fit into the slots, or have to remove cd from case and then insert into this holder?

U can store the booklet to the cd and the cd itself in each slot. I do. But not the whole actual case to the CD. Just the booklet and one CD behind the booklet in each slot. Thank you , come again. \m/ but it onlt holds rock and metal cds.....for some reason other cds break when inserted.

Q: Can you slip cds in their jewel cases?-i'm looking to preserve my cds in that way- or should i be looking for cd shelving?

This case will definitely not hold cd/dvd/disc's with any kind of packaging.
