Nature's Way DGL ULTRA 10:1 Extra Strength, 75 mg per serving, German Chocolate Flavored, 90 Chewables, Pack of 2 (Packaging May Vary)

Got these to help ween me off of famotidine - for stomach acid/heartburn issues. I have a hiatal hernia, and have been battling acid issues for decades! DGL - licorice without the glycyrrhizin components that could increase your heart rate, among other things - seems to help me in my battle against heartburn. Most DGL products taste...AWFUL! Unless you love black licorice, you'll probably dislike them. The german chocolate flavor of these has just 1 gram of sugar (from fructose) and tastes wonderful! Chew one before a meal - 10 to 60 minutes prior - and you get a 'coating' effect on your stomach, slightly reducing acid issues. The claim is that the licorice will speed-up the replacement of your stomach lining. I'm not sure if that claim works or not, but I can tell you that when I take these before meals, I need less famotidine, or none at all! That's a big score for me. This is NOT an antacid. It is NOT a proton-pump-inhibitor (PPI), rather it's a supplement that is supposed to help in the growth of new stomach lining - something that happens every couple of days for most folks. Those with chronic heartburn tend to have all sorts of problems, and their stomach linings get damaged easily. For me, this product helps. If it keeps me away from long-term issues related to acid-reducers/PPis, then great! If it tastes pretty good, even better! Give it a try! My local health food store doesn't always have these in stock, so I began ordering through Amazon. YAY! Cheaper, and I don't have to drive to the store.

I have added this product to my regimen, and found it does very well for my hot flashes. I love the taste and would go crazy if this product came in a stronger strength because I have to consume a bit more than expected daily dosage. It costs more than the non-chocolate versions which is why I haven't given it a perfect score. The licorice does better than some of these Estrogen products.

I did have a 5 stars for this, but the latest batch I ordered have smaller pills, that taste burnt, and then have a minty aftertaste. I cant say I see they work as well, but that is more subjective. I would tend to say they dont work as well, but that is subjective. A 5 star for the original, a 3 star for this one. I got two bottles, the pills in both of them all appear the same.

DGL Ultra German Chocolate was recommended to me by a friend .... her acupuncturist suggested she try it to get off her acid reflux meds (she had been taking for many years - like me!). So, I chew one of these tasty tablets each morning when I get up - 20 minutes before eating or drinking. I am happy to say I am no longer taking meds for reflux and I have barely had any problems with my hiatal hernia since I've been taking this product. I showed it to my family doctor and he thinks it's great! I will use and recommend this product to everyone! Great Stuff!

Enzymatic DGL German Chocolate tablets USED to be wonderful. They worked well for acid reflux and the taste was delicious...just like German Chocolate cake. HOWEVER, now they "improved" the formula and it tastes terrible! I sent both bottles back because they were bitter and inedible. BRING BACK THE OLD FORMULA!

Highly recommended! The tablets taste like chocolate candy and they work well. I used to get heartburn after most meals, but not anymore. I saw the Dr. Oz episode on DGL and tried the regular tablets first. They were NASTY because I hate the taste of black licorice. Then I saw the German Chocolate tablets in a Whole Foods store and tried them, but it was $16 for one bottle! After trying them and really liking the product, I found this great deal on Amazon of two bottles for the price of one in Whole Foods. If you suffer from acid reflex, buy this product and try it for a few weeks. It's amazing!

I like the product but it has been over a month since I ordered it and still have not received it.

I have recommended these to friends and my daughter. They have been a life saver. I have had stomach problems since acquiring C-diff during a hospital stay. My stomach problems got worse when my gall bladder was removed following that admission. I had almost stopped going out to eat. I never knew when an episode would occur following a meal. Episodes included symptoms of stomach cramps, bloating/gas, and sudden onset diarrhea , with no correlation to foods eaten. I had been tried on at least half a dozen prescription drugs without results.Chewing one of these before going out to eat keeps this under control. I did run it by my Dr. before taking them and she approved. I have been using them about a year and a half now.
