I washed and tumble dryed before using. They wrinkled but not too bad. I'm familiar with cotton fabrics. They all wrinkle, if you don't like ironing, take them out of tumble dryer before they cool.

Q: What type of closure are these pillowcases?

No closures. Just a big pillowcase that you slide the pillow into. It's cotton, so not slippery and the pillow stays in fine. Honestly doesn't need a closure.
