I read some of the negative reviews and it's blatantly obvious some people are not taking the time to actually read the book. The author had talc in the book for informational purposes and it's an ingredient she doesn't recommend. Regarding colors for people of color, it's up to you to adjust and add pigment to make various shades.Now for the review.... This book was very detailed and covers every topic when it comes to mineral makeup. There are even substitutions for certain minerals. For example, some people are starting to shy away from Titanium Dioxide. There are alternatives listed for this ingredient. This book covers how to make your makeup more matte or shiny (I prefer matte). I felt like I had a guide during the entire process of making mineral makeup. I highly recommend this book!

I am very visual. This book is EVERYTHING. My most favorite when it comes to making make up. Pictures of ingredients, and completed products. Very informative. I loved this book!!! Very easy to follow.

This saved me hours and hours of research. Though my goal is to create a makeup line (for myself) that is as natural as possible, all of the ingredients and information she's included in this book provide the base I need. I'd recommend this to anyone interested in the art of creating makeup.

I really liked this book overall, but my one dislike was that when i made a batch of the foundation powder, it was such a small quantity that i had to immediately make a double batch and even that was too small a quantity. The author needed to make her recipes using much larger measurements or offer a website where you could easily scale up the recipes.

Love this book. So much good information and easy recipes. I still need to buy the ingredients to try making something but it has given me confidence that I can!

This is a great little book. If you are a beginner it will really help. If you are a pro, you might find some new ideas.

I don't know why I was under the impression that this book was going to give you recipes for make up made from natural ingredients . I guess the title says it all, HOW TO MAKE PURE MINERAL MAKE UP. There are not any plant based make up recipes. Or many natural ingredients. The author even recommends purchasing lab created minerals and products to make her recipes (which she explains is because they are more "pure" than earthen material). All of the recipes are for loose powder made from colored micas, iron oxides, ultramarines, titanium dioxide, zinc oxide etc. She does explains how to press powders, but then says all of her recipes are meant to be kept loose!?!? If you want to make bright colors of eyeshadow, I wouldn't recommend this book. If you want to make natural shades, well, all of the colors are earthy(which are lovely). For someone looking to make powders from minerals like mica, iron oxides, etc, you might like the book. I'm returning it. I want to make plant based make up from natural ingredients, or at least natural ingredients that aren't created in a lab. I already wear mineral make up and it is not worth it for me to have to buy all the minerals to make it and the time. I'm returning this book because I was looking for a much more natural option. I'm working on formulating a powder with a base of arrowroot, rice powder, etc. and I'm hoping to find a book that has recipes using clays, herbs, flowers, spices, dried fruits, etc for coloring. I've been experimenting a bit on my own, and would like a few tried and true recipes that I haven't already found on the internet. If you're looking for a book to direct you on creating make up with lab created minerals, this book may be for you. The book is plentiful in that subject, very organized, and nice photographs , just not for me.
