A Fantastic Knife!
This is a fantastic knife, and quite a pleasant surprise. I must say.I've had a chance to use and carry this knife now, for 10 days. It's time for me to make the call. Easily, all 5 Stars!I use and carry a pocket knife, every day. I buy and sell folding pocket knives, and have a nice collection. I like to keep up on what's new, and love to closely look over new offerings. My collection is ever rotating, as the lower quality knives, are constantly getting replaced, by the better ones I purchase. In the past 3 years. I have bought, carried, used, and sold some of. Over 400 folding pocket knives. This StatGear Ausus Knife, after 10 days of ownership. Still has me shaking my head. And knives that do this for me, are very few, and far between. For me. This knife has a perfect weight. The blade thickness, for knife of this size, is also perfect (3.17 mm/0.125"). Not too thin, and easily broke or bent. Not too thick, as to make it less of a slicer, and overly heavy. D2 steel here too, is a spectacular choice. Though not quite a full stainless steel. It is very close, and about 40 rungs up the quality steel ladder. When compared to most knives sold around the world. The fit and finish on this knife, is amazing at it's price point. The pocket-clip is perfect in width, and smoothness, in and out of the pocket. As well as being very deep carry, in the pocket. It's also easily reversible, should you choose. The bearings in the pivot, have this knife opening and closing. As if it were attached to a cloud. My blade came perfectly and evenly sharpened, on both sides. The detent is also set perfectly, for a thumb-stud deploying knife. Easy to open, yet not so stiff, as to have to struggle, to get it open. It's as smooth as silk. The brown Canvas Micarta on this knife, is as they state in the bullet-points section of this listing. High end! And quite beautiful, even at 400x magnification. Is the knife a little square-ish looking? Yes it is. That also sets it apart from the crowd. Making it unique. Could the flat grind on the primary bevel, have been made a little higher? Sure it could have. Maybe even then, making it a slightly better slicer. But there is a sacrifice in doing that. It would then be less of an all-around knife. This one, is both a good slicer, and a strong every day carry kind of enjoyment.I was going to add some pictures of my own, to this review section. But it's really not needed. This listing is well done in that regard. As StatGear has some very good pictures of it, for us to look at now.In conclusion. Is this knife worth the price they are asking? Absolutely. Do I think you'll be happy with your purchase? Yes, I am sure you will. This is a knife, that will last you decades. And if cared for properly. Will be able to get handed down to your children, and or, your Grandchildren.Well done StatGear! Thank you, for making this knife available here, on Amazon.StatGear's Ausus Folding Pocket Knife - a Luxury EDC with a Canvas Micarta Handle and D2 Steel Blade (Brown Micarta & Stonewashed Blade)

Excellent appearance and performance right out of the box.
The knifes lock liner worked fine and did so after more than thirty cycles of opening/ closing it. Also, extremely smooth action, when the blade is deployed, due to the ball bearing action and it's good lubrication. The blade is "hair shaving" sharp out of the box and I haven't seen any defects. All fasteners are tight, so no movement or wiggling of any components including the micarta scales and the pocket clip. The brow micarta are smooth, not rough as expressed by other reviewers.I purchased this version of this Ausus knife after purchasing the black type. I was impressed with it's quality and didn't allow some of the less than satisfied reviews of other purchasers, to lessen my desire to try this piece of EDC (everyday carry) equipment. We'll see how this knife holds up structurally and performance-wise over time....so far, so good.Stay safe and healthy,Kenny

Good knife! Not preferable for EDC though.
As I started reading the reviews after I placed my order, I got a little bit worried. I just sort of thought to myself, “well, I just wasted 30 bucks.” I was happy to see that mine didn’t have any of those QC problems some people had. No problems with the lock not working or the blade swinging freely whatsoever.I went with the brown/stonewash color pattern, and I love the esthetics. Scrolling though looking for something to catch my eye at a reasonably low price, and this got my attention in an instant. It was different from any of the pocket knives I’d bought in the past. I don’t usually see, nor would I have thought of a square knife, but when I saw it, I just knew that’s my style. The colors look great together, and the entire design just makes for a handsome and elegantly simple pocket knife. The canvas scales are really nice too. Very comfortable and kind of just something you want to run your thumb across when you have it out. We’ll see how that holds up. I don’t know if it will wear away or maybe start collecting lent. Plus the other color was like $20 or so more. The blade came sharp, but not super sharp. It touched up pretty easily though and was able to give my hand a little shave when I was checking to see how it was coming along. Nice and sturdy lock up. No play at all. And opens up with a very satisfying “chomp” as it locks into place. The downsides, it’s fairly heavy. I don’t have a scale or anything, but it’s definitely way heavier than my cold steel Finn wolf that I’ve been carrying for quite some time now. It’s not so bad that i don’t want to use it or carry it though. Also, this knife is surprisingly comfortable to hold on to and use. I cannot say the same thing about having it in my pocket though. It’s a little bit on the thicker side of what I’m used to. I like my pocket knife in my back, right pocket which is also where I like my phone. The problem with that was, the two always seem to fit together so perfectly that it was a pain in the ass to get either one of them out. After that I tried my front pocket. I could get everything out, but it essentially feels like a big block hanging onto my pants. And last, I wish the thumb stud was just a smidge longer. The stud is about flush with the scales, so it’s kind of hard to get my sausage finger into the gap to open it up easily. All in all, I like this knife a lot. Right now, I’m expecting it to find its home in my bag as a back up because it is good. And I do like it. I just don’t really like it in my pocket.Update: I’m going to take back what I said about the thumb studs. Once it broke in, the blade flies open. It’s really one of my smoothest opening/closing knives now. But I also see that the brown version is no longer available. Which, imo looked the best, but it was also only like $25.99 or something like that. At that price, like I say, not preferable but decent. $50? ABSOLUTELY not. Honestly, unless you just prefer a bigger knife and want something similar to this, get the QSP Penguin. It essentially does everything this knife does better. Except close up. That, this knife is actually way better. But the penguin is same blade steel, similar scales, smaller package, lighter, same deployment, better pocket clip, more comfortable all around, but almost half the price. I’m taking two stars off since the value, which was this knife’s saving grace, just isn’t there anymore.

Better the second time around.
Great budget knife. I am very happy with the action of the knife. It has a great detent. I had to return my first one as the micarta scale on the showside had an imperfection that was rather large. The new one came in with a much better set of scales. Very small voids in it but I cant really ask much more for a $50 knife. The D2 seems a little soft compared to my other knives which have American D2. The heat treat may not run these blades as hard as other D2 blades. Because of this, the edge retention is not as good. Again, this gets a pass as it is a budget blade. It is a nice all around knife.I would love to see a version that ran on washers in place of bearings and a blade at 4+ mm at the spine.
