The red tip is just a protective cover, please remove before using the thermometer.

Sorry but I am unable to answer this question. We purchased it a while back and there's nothing stating point of origin on the front or back of the thermometer.

Q: I need this to make yogurt. i noticed that it has a big tm on it. silly question, is that where it needs to be for the right temp (110°)

I'm not sure what the TW stands for, maybe a logo. You need to bring milk up to 180 degrees F (the smaller inside numbers), which is 83 degrees C (the larger numbers on the dial). Then cool it to 115 degrees F, or 46 degrees C. and add the yogurt starter.

This is shipped from outside India, so Amazon is not directly responsible and hence delivery time is uncertain and so is the reliability. As per this thermometer, water boiled at 80 degree celcius and froze at 20 degrees. AVOID IT.
