As expected

It's not just for looks and does have some function. For instance, stopping your cable slide from hitting your rest. This wasn't an issue with my setup but I have heard people who have had issues with it. For me, it's just more of another flashy component that adds to the look of my bow. But it's well made and could help help with any vibration issues if you have them.

To be honest, I really didn't have much hope for this cable rod dampener. I have a Bow Madness 32 set at 60lbs with a Saunders Hyperglide cable slide that has a little roller. BM32 has quite a bit of vibration as a bare bow and there was still a noticeable amount left with limb, string and stabilizer dampeners.PSE recommends that a cable dampener is installed between the slide and the riser to act as a slide stop upon the shot. I really didn't think that this dampener will make much difference, and I also expected Saunders Hyper glide to simply push this dampener out of the way, as it did with the little foam one that came with the Saunders slide. It was only $5 or so though, so I decided to give it a try.I just got back from shooting my bow and wow! I'm a believer. There is a clear reduction in vibration and some noise reduction as well. The dampener didn't move one bit after dozens of shots, even though it's sitting crooked on a curved part of the cable guide rod. Very good! The only downside is that it looks a little silly (it's huge compared to their string/cable dampeners) but I think I'll take the improvement in performance over looks! If you do have a choice, buy it in black though! :-)
