Humble & Trustworthy
Fantastic read! Really got the feeling that the Upland team had no hidden agendas when writing this book - they honor their competitors and genuinely talk about their desire to collectively work together with themThis is refreshing in this day and age!

Want to understand the Metaverse?
Want to understand the Metaverse? In this book by Cathy Hackl, Dirk Lueth and Tommaso Di Bartolo they explain the basics of what the Metaverse is all about, talk about the business benefits as they see them and give case studies as to what is about right nowIt's non-technical, as much as it can be and I thought it was a great introductionFor example, there are other books that explain the blockchain mathematically, this book, quite rightly keeps away from all of that

Exceptional backgrounder on the emergence and expansion of the industry
Matthew Ball's writing is very precise, comprehensive and inviting. He tracks the emergence of 3D media from decades of groundwork from past industry pioneers then paints a persuasive view of how the industry will advance in coming years. His writing is accessible to all levels regardless of technical familiarity or experience with the precedent platforms that have set the stage for the current decade's advancements. This is the best written business book on our current industry that I've read to date.

It's hype-based delusional science-fiction
I can't even begin to list the problems I found in this book.Broadly speaking it's only hype, based, it seems, more on the hopes, dreams and delusions of the authors than on reality. They predict with certainty things that are totally unpredictable, repeatedly use the 5-to-10-years milestone for things to become reality and, most importantly, totaly neglect some of the enormous technical challenges that we will have to overcome to even start to think about their vision of the Metaverse.I particularly disliked the continous reference to one platform, that was founded by one of the authors, a clear attempt to promote it, since at the end it is clearly stated that the said platform is a sponsor of the book.Frankly, considering the fame at least one of the authors enjoys as expert in the space, it was a sore disappointment.I understand self promotion, but this it taking things too far, for me.
