This should not need to exist (except maybe for a MBA)
This works fine. It's great for what it is. The reason for the 1 star is because it shouldn't be needed at all. It's totally asinine that a laptop like the Macbook Pro that cost over $2,000 would need additional adapters and dongles for something as necessary and ubiquitous as Ethernet. LAN Party? Crappy hotel wifi? Transferring files on a LAN? Well, good luck with any of that without shelling out $30 extra to replace a port that EVERY computer needs at some point. All other laptop makers, even the ones that make super-slim "ultrabooks", have figured out how to include ethernet without compromising design or utility. But not Apple. If it weren't for the excellent screen I'd throw that damn thing down the stairs or gift it to a needy hipster.

Excellent Adaptor for adding an extra Ethernet Port to a Mac Mini running Mac OS X
I needed to set up my Mac Mini as a file server, connecting to an iSCSI RAID drive made by Drobo (a DroboPro to be precise). To do so, I needed to add another ethernet port to my Mini, so that I could have one port for connecting the Drobo, and one for talking to the network. To address this issue, I looked in to the Thunderbolt Ethernet adaptor from Apple. Unfortunately, no information that I could find would confirm that these adaptors would work with anything other than MacBook Airs. As such, I decided to take a chance, try it out on my Mini, and if it worked great, if not, I would return it. I purchased it and waited for it to arrive. Once it arrived, I immediately plugged it in to the Mini. Unfortunately, nothing changed in the Network Interface list in Network System Preferences...Darn - maybe it isn't supported....I thought. It also seemed very loose when plugged in to the port, much looser than a mini-display port adaptor. That seemed strange due to the fact that they were the same size plug. For the longest time, I couldn't realize why the Mac Mini would not recognize the presence of the adapter, while when used on my MacBook Pro it was recognized perfectly. Eventually, I placed a light back in the networking closet and realized that the adaptor wasn't pushed in all the way! Once I pushed in the adaptor all the way, it worked perfectly on my Mac Mini running Mac OS X 10.8. It was recognized instantly and the thunderbolt ethernet port automatically appeared in the network system preferences. I now have a connection to the Drobo RAID array that is at least 3x faster than before. This is a great little adaptor for use in Mac Mini computers running OS X. Highly Recommended, just make sure to push it in all the way, with a little more force than you might think is needed.

A High Performance Ethernet Connection for Your Mac via the Thunderbolt Port
This is a good Apple-made add-on device that allows you to connect a wired Ethernet cable to your Apple Thunderbolt port. So, before you buy it, make sure you HAVE Thunderbolt port on your mac. Most do after 2012, but you have to check your model in specific to ensure the port it present. The advantage? The thunderbolt port is much, much faster than either USB 2 or USB 3, and if you are hooking into a gigabyte speed wired network, the speeds can be really impressive.Yes, it's a bit too expensive, but I suspect there are some embedded electrical components within the plug bodies, and this is something you want working correctly, so on this particular item, I would go with the actual Apple model. It's too physically inflexible, but that might be a good thing in terms of longevity of life (i.e. no broken or frayed cables). And, remember, Thunderbolt is a daisy-chained based system, so even though you have only one Thunderbolt port, you simply keep attaching the next device with the cable to make a daisy chain, all operating at high bandwidth and high speed. Its an important add-on device for your Mac, and so I highly recommend it with five stars,

L'annonce n'est pas claire et si vous êtes novices en la matière (ce qui est mon cas) vous vous retrouvez en moins de deux avec un port usb qui n'est pas compatible avec votre appareillage...
