The best cheap knife I've ever had.
The media could not be loaded. This is a MTech MX-A833 karambit style pocket knife.I usually carry a pocket knife with me. Something that is good to cut boxes open, or whatever else needs to be cut quick. I had a nice Benchmade, which seems to have disappeared. Not having a knife in my pocket got annoying, where I had to go get scissors to open things, rather than just grabbing the knife. So I wanted something for now, until I get around to buying another nice knife.I'm not a knife collector or aficionado. I just want one near by to use, when I need it.It really is mostly to have a knife for opening things. Sure, it will work in self defense, but I'm not really concerned about being attacked. If that does happen, I'm pretty confident in my skills with or without a weapon. If it can slash through boxes quickly, it can slash through other things quickly too.I bought two knives. This one, and a S&W M&P "tactical" style. I figured this one would be a novelty that I'd rarely carry, and the other would be in my pocket all the time. I was so wrong. The "tactical" style knife is good and all, but it doesn't open quick. It's too tight to open with one hand. most of the time I need a knife, one hand is already holding onto the thing to cut. But it checks every box of what I'd want as a knife, once it's open. This karambit knife is is nice and small folded. Closed, all the edges are smooth, so it won't cut my pocket. As you can see in the video, it deploys very smoothly and quickly. It feels sturdy. I don't think it'll break any time soon. I have had my hands on some cheap knives that just felt bendy or otherwise sloppy. This one isn't.One of my buying considerations was the blade. The serrated part is good for cutting things like ropes. The sharp point is great for tearing through tape and cardboard. I like to have both. Both on this one work well.It is sharp. And so far, it hasn't gotten dull at all. Usually cutting cardboard dulls a blade pretty quickly. When it does, I'll sharpen it. I hand sharpen my own knives, mostly so I don't have to take it to someone else to do it for me.Comparing the blade on this to the tactical knife, they are about the same thickness on the widest part, and (obviously) taper down to the blade edge. It feels to be built about as well as my old knife. The liner lock does hold it securely in the open position. So it won't fold back on your fingers.I really don't like liner locks. My old knife had a push button lock, which I miss. It seems they don't show up in cheap knives like this. But the action is easy enough. It does taken two hands to close it.You'll see in the video, that in 4 seconds, I opened it, cut the box, and closed it.The markings on it are a little misleading, sort of. On one side of the blade, it says :MTechUSAXtremeOn the other sideMX-A833StainlessUSA Premium DesignHandcrafted in China.I know that there is a lot of national pride branding on weapons. Some people won't buy one unless it has flags and USA plastered all over it. This is one of those. Despite saying USA on both sides, it's still made in China. You're getting a cheap knife, you aren't going to get a good one made in the USA for this price.I just noticed, if you search for that model number, you'll find their same knife on Amazon for $11. Either way, a good cheap knife.Doing a little Googling, I found ...The blade is "3Cr13" stainless steel. It's a good, hard, corrosion resistant stainless that holds a good edge. Its a good metal for cheap knife blades. The handle is C10 fiberglass. If you look carefully at it, you can see layer lines when they shaped it. It feels like a hard plastic. They call the blade shape "hawkbill".I'll probably carry this "utility" "fantasy" knife for a while. It does it's job well. It doesn't seem that it will break any time soon. Considering how cheap it is, and how well made it is, if it does eventually break, I'll probably buy another one.

Best Budget Karambit Yet.
4.5 StarsI've bought a few Karambits now around under $25 and this one impressed. Others wouldn't stay locked open which is a hazard for your fingers. This thing is a fast deploy and locks solid with no wiggle in any direction everytime.I wish I was allowed to give a half star because it would get a 4.5. the half a star less than 5 is because the belt/pocket clip is only setup for traditional knife carry not reverse and the blade was full. I took a kitchen knife sharpening stick to it and it is plenty sharpe now so an easy fix.Overall I would recommend this Karambit to anyone looking to pocket carry for self defense.

Happy nephew
Got this as a gift for my nephew and he was over the moon. He is a big knife collector and was thrilled to receive this! He has been looking at some others but didn’t realize they make them foldable when he got this one. I do like that it folds up, make it way safer. It is very very sharp so be careful but a very good purchase!

So good, I got 4 more
I had to get more due to the fact that my family will come up on my EDC and want one just like it due to how smoothe and sharp it is. I pulled out my last extra so I need more to fill my back up. The price along with the overall EDC use it perfect.

quality build, fast deployment, snaps and locks in a flash.
Ths knife snaps open instantly. and locks with certainty. extremely sharp. and light. better than many costing way more. The build quality is superb. for less than $10?? huge bargain here. I got a half dozen more. maybe it does not sit right in a pocket, dont care. in hand, it is quiet easy to instantly open, ready to go. now my favorite.

Strong, low-budget knife
Sharp, durable blade. The knife feels smooth and looks simple. I like the aged look it has because I'm not worried about scuffing it up. Fits the average size hand. Good knife for self-defense or cutting many different materials.

Solid defense knife for the $$$
For less than 10 bucks, you will be happy. The blade is half straight (can be sharpened) and half serrated. The pocket clip is for right front (or rear) pocket draw only. Solid knife, though... it does the job. It is a defense claw knife, not utility knife obviously.

save the Eagles
wonderful knife very sharp, opens easily clips into my pocket nicely, the only addition it should have it should have some type of a rough and patch right at the top of the clip so that when you are unclipping it you get a good grip on the outer portion of the clip
