Sophisticated, Elegant, and Durable
If you're considering buying this pen, you're likely here for the high quality and craftsmanship. I can confidently say that this pen delivers. The black finish looks and feels exquisite, and the soft, fine knurling maintains the refined feel of the pen. The clicking mechanism is also soft, with lots of travel, unlike many other firm mechanisms on other pens. While many people aren't fans of the button, I don't mind it much. The ink cartridges aren't some proprietary design meant to extract as much money as possible from you; the standard cartridge allows you to refill it with just about anything you want. The red ring is made of shiny plastic, and unscrewing the grip reveals that the threads are that same red plastic. I'm slightly disappointed that the threads are not entirely metal, as I expect the plastic threads stripping or snapping could be the only potential reason the pen breaks. Knowing this, I would be very careful when tightening the grip. Nevertheless, the pen comes in at a hefty 25.3 grams (or 0.89 oz) and feels extremely solid. If taken care of, I'd like to think it could last a lifetime.Due to the weight of the pen, writing for long periods can be a little uncomfortable. For regular use, the weight feels nice, but I've used it continuously for as long as three hours during an exam, and my hand got quite tired. However, I rarely use it continuously for that long, so it's not an issue I encounter often.I purchased the rOtring mechanical pencil first and just stored it in my pocket. After a few days of use, it began to show signs of wear, with the black finish coming off to reveal the metal underneath. To keep it in good condition, I'd recommend using a case that prevents it from bumping around. Personally, I'm using the Girologio Triple case with inserts I made from gun case PU foam, and it has been working perfectly for over a year and a half with no further damage.Overall, I am very pleased with the quality of the rOtring Rapid Pro ballpoint pen. It is a well-made, elegant, and durable pen. Those with an appreciation for quality writing instruments, whom I've allowed to use it, all provided very positive feedback.

Watch this pen people try to steal it!
Pens are cheap and plastic these days this is expensive and metal. Any one who borrow ls it to sign liked it, love the rotting design. The rotring refills are good jet stream are still better.

Good pen
Great pen. But make sure you don't bump it into anything or put it in your pocket with keys, it is very easily scratchable. As other reviewers said the clicky part is somewhat loose and cheaply made. Also plan on buying an ink refill as the original isn't that great. Schmidt 9000 for those who like rollerball type or medium nib. Otherwise monteverde extra fine works great if you are into precision writing.Update 12/6/15Today I got the Silver version of the pen. So i decided to give an update on the initial impression of it and compare the 2. The silver one has a slightly rougher knurled grip. Both pens feel nice and sturdy. Comparing the knurling of the rotrings to the usual zebra 701:Zebra: larger knurling, somewhat softer than rotringsblack rotring rapid pro: softest of all 3 but I suspect thats because of daily usesilver rotring rapid pro: roughest of all, it fills like you are gripping fine sand paper. This is great because if you sweat, (or ladies use hand lotion) you don't strain your muscle for the pen to stay where it is. This is not a cheap plastic pen, and because of it's weight you do need to keep a good balance, this makes that job effortless.A note on the black version. As you see in the image it will get dinged if you use it daily, just be cautious of that.

Quality Built Pen
This pen is by far the best pen I’ve ever bought. I love full metal pens and this one is by far my favorite. The pen uses Parker Jotter type ink cartridges so the limit is endless. Those cartridges are easily accessible, you can get them almost anywhere you have a office supply store. The metal used is noticeably of the highest quality. Love the fact that it has a nice weight to it. There is no loose parts or internals that shake around. It has a good solid feel when retracting and clicking the pen. The knurled grip is perfect and very satisfying to the touch. The pen clip seems solid and robust. I use my pen daily at work so I have put it to the test. The clip has worked great no streching outwards. Best pen I’ve ever bought, doubt I’ll ever have to replace this in my lifetime. I highly reccommend this pen as an EDC type pen or for the suit and tie kind of guy.
