Finest Imported Sardinian Grated Bottarga

Just like Grandma used to make…..delicioso

My beloved maternal grandmother with whom I lived until she was 89, was born in 1869 under Spanish rule, in Cuba, was a true foodie who loved mullet roe in all its forms. So, I have been eating mullet roe from early childhood until today. And, not because I was an obedient grandson, but because I always loved good food and knew that good food could always be made better tasting. Today, that can be accomplished without having to search or spend too much for a food "improvement" of any kind as good as this! Try it, you will like it!

I'm from Sardinia, where this product comes from, I even owned a small local restaurant for a while so I think I know what I'm talking about. This is quite decent for the price and convenience. I've been living in the US for 8 years and this is one of the things that's very hard to find. Now, I can just order it and have it delivered.Is it the best bottarga? No, I've had way better but I've had way worse too. This is great for making spaghetti and/or clams, I really cannot complain.

not available in my local supermarket. Also, while there are applications where I would prefer to slice it whole, having a jar of grated on hand is very convenient.

Pleasantly tangy, not exactly fishy. Had read about it and wanted to try it. It was ok but nothing that I would buy again at the price.

Bottarga is excellent, whether putting in on pasta or making a pate for cracker spread, this is an item to try!

Bottarga was listed in a new recipe I wanted to try. It is mixed with butter and other herbs and used as a glaze over steak and fish. It was not overpowering. It gave enough flavor to make our meal unique. I ordered more to have on hand.

I was looking forward to receiving this as I absolutely love bottarga, nibbling sliced ones as a snack or using grated ones in pasta. I had a small spoonful of this to taste when I received it and it tasted off, stale, dry and old. Shame as it’s not cheap and is a once in a blue moon treat for me.
