another great watch from Seiko.
I have the kinetic version of this watch for near 20 yrs before it died, dived with it wore it everywhere and it was banged up after all that time- the best watch in the ever ever and a sad day for me. The current kinetic version is near a grands so out of my price range, The Kinetic watch accuracy was legendary-- 3-4 seconds gain in 3 monthsPros: for this watch:1 Great looking, nice size and much lighter in wt than my previous Kinetic version2. Hands easy to see, maybe not so much the second hand.3. Bezel movement is tight as it should be4. Charges in light???? see cons...5. Wonderful accuracy-- checking against the atomic clock at National Bureau of Standards this watch has gained 2 seconds in a month- far surpassing the accuracy of many very high end "chronograph" watches sold today. And why have a watch if you really don't know what time it truly is??? Update: After 3 months the accuracy is still spot on.Cons;1 Not many but one is its bracelet. I love the metal bracelet,, its design and functionality BUT in having it adjusted to size at a jewelry shop ( I lack the proper tools) they had trouble getting the pin to stay in once reassembled. It did for 4 days then fell out again. We ended up super-gluing it back into place and so far so good. But there is a flaw in the way the pins interact with the bracelet-- as I said I Iove the way it looks and fastens but will it hold? Update- the bracelet continues to be the problem and tho super glue seems to work it there is something wrong with the design that makes this a problem. I have considered getting another brand bracelet.2. The charging system, questions more than anything...seems neat to have it charge under house lights but reading the charge chart not so fast.. 9 hrs in direct sunlight for a full charge?? Not practical and with the low LUX of normal house light it may take several hours for a charge lasting one day. Obviously if you are out mowing the lawn or gardening or whatever outside it will charge but in the winter that ain't happening. So time will tell, The solar cell is very small and every chance to expose it to light needs to be taken advantage of-- we will see maybe I am over concerned but time will tell.Keep up the innovative and good work Seiko.PS 5 months later: Watch gains 2 seconds per month which is extremely accurate and beats most high price "chronograph" watches.

Great Solar Seiko
Great looking watch, one of 5 Seiko's I own. I do like the Solar aspect and leave both my Solar Seiko's on the window sill and never lose time on it. I'm not a metal band guy anymore, so I had a leather band put on yesterday and love the look!

Great watch
I'm very happy with watch. Beautiful compact solar diver. I could not get it in my country, so i had it shipped from abroad.

Just what I was looking for
I have already had compliments on the watch. It is gorgeous. I won't be using for diving but I will be using it for waterfowl hunting in the marsh, dog training in the water and anything else that comes up. I wanted a Solar watch, green, which is my favorite color, and a Seiko. This one checked all the boxes.

Good 200m watch but may need extra to get you by.
Purchased this watch from Amazon Sept 2022. It is a beautiful and impressive time piece- a bit heavy for casual every day wear but great for water sport enthusiasts . The time keeping has been excellent for the month or so I've had it . One notable feature and possible drawback is the Seiko bracelet , pretty though it is, comes extra large and unless your wrists are extra big you will likely have to adjust it . There is a simple "fine tune " small adjuster on the clasp. with some ingenuity most people will be able to self do. For most however a link or even two will have to be removed to fit most wrists. This is a tricky process and daunting enough I decided ,after watching some do-it-yourselfers on you-tube, to send the watch to Seiko for the required band adjustment. I'm usually pretty good at mechanics and such but each link has tiny pins and springs that have to be removed and properly reinserted after removing each link and I decided it wasn't worth the risk of having a pin or spring zing off to get lost or I might scratch the watch or band in the process. Seiko does the link removal ( I got right requesting one link off) for $38 and you can access the correct form and info on their website. You also have to pay about $9 for priority mail to get it to their service center in Mahwah NJ. They do the service quickly and I had the watch back in about 10 days total turn around time (the return mail was included in the $38). When I got it back I still had to fine tune the size using the clasp adjustment but fortunately that was sufficient and now I have a well fitting great watch. So yes I recommend this watch provided you take into account the extra hassle of band adjustment. Band adjustment can be done at private Seiko dealers throughout the U.S. but the nearest one to me was a 3 hr drive away and they'd of quite rightly charged me for the service too since I bought the time piece through Amazon. If you buy this watch through the internet plan on a minimum extra cost of $45 or so for band adjustment unless you're brave and have a gifted pair of hands. I paid $289.99 for it plus $45 for the complete band service and I'm not disappointed. Yes , I'd do it again.
