Q: Is the lettering painted or etched? Will it rub off if carried in pocket or purse?

Definitely not for your purse! The plastic lids break easily. My 90 year old cousin asked me to order another one for her because the lids were all cracked. She only uses it in the kitchen on her counter & dining table. The lids slide pretty easily. I just reordered this one for her but it came without the lids. It's non-returnable but Amazon said they are going to refund. I had to reach a live person in order to get the refund.

Q: What are the dimensions?

The whole organizer is about 1 3/4 X 4 1/2 X 5 high. Each daily unit is 1 1/4 X 4 X 5/8 high. Each pill compartment is approx 1 X 1 inch.

Q: How many average size pills fit into one compartment?

If they are small pills then you can fit about 6-8, medium sized pills about 4-6, and large pills (multivitamin type) 2-3. I am able to put two days worth of pills in the four areas of each "day".
