Good quality adapter that works on Windows 11 and Ubuntu Linux
Works well with Windows 11 and Ubuntu Linux. I have had no problems with it so far. There have been no drops or crashes, which were issues I experienced with previous adapters I tried.

Good cable with a bit of extra trash.
Great product, the packaging is an issue though. It comes with a CD. In 2025. Something like 1% of computers come with CD capable drives these days. I don't actually know what's on that CD, it could be the Colonel's Secret Recipe or the Zapruder Film. I could ignore it and throw it out... except... it says "Please Recycle" on it. CD's aren't normally recycled. There are specialty places that will accept CDs for recycling. They charge money to do that recycling. All things being equal, I would prefer to buy a cable with less waste.

Perfect: FTDI to DB9 serial
I have a preference for the FTDI USB-to-Serial converters and have zero troubles with them. I've got test stations that have 21 serial cables on them at the office and using software that I wrote via their DLL have worked perfectly for years. This one is for another program I'm writing. I was able to program the description string using FT_Prog so that I can identify exactly what each serial interface is connected to and again, works perfectly. Sometimes I'll use little adapter boards; sometimes this cable for the convenience of a direct DB9 connection. Definitely BT recommended

Tidyer than separate usb-rs232 adapter and rs232 serial lead…..it’s 2 products in 1 The Ftdi chipset is more widely compatible and more reliable than the prolific chipset, in my experience. More expensive but worth it to preempt compatibility and installation difficulties.

Spent hours trying to get a few other cables to work (with no success) but I just plugged this in and immediately started to communicate with my device. Didn’t need drivers on Linux Mint 21.2.
