Q: Are these suitable for a drop A/D tuning, or are they not thick enough? I know they'll rattle a little bit, but I don't want the amp to pick it up.

I just checked my 7-string guitar and no, it is not wound. The next string, the 28, is wound, as are the other sizes above it. Hope it helps.
