The North Star

I was looking for an alternative to the popular "Oh the places you'll go" book to give to my son when he graduates high school. This one is about finding your own path and embracing the unknown. Love the illustrations and message. Now I just need to remember to have teachers sign it for the next 13 years!

We adore Peter Reynolds - I read this book frequently to my daughters when they were little. My youngest daughter just graduated from high school. I gave her a copy of this book and a beautiful “North Star” necklace.

I am using this as a "graduation gift book" for my son - having his teachers leave a message for him each year. I love the story and it has a great message.

My daughter is three and a half, and as she gets older, her quirky nature reveals itself more and more. I bought this book based on the reviews that it supported alternative ways of being, and I was not disappointed. Since this version didn't have a "closer look" option, I wasn't sure what I was getting but bought it anyway. Knowing that other Peter Reynolds books are written for little kids, I thought this might be something I could read to my daughter. The illustrations are child-friendly and there's only a sentence or two per page, so I took a stab at reading it to her. But at 120 pages, it's a bit long for her. She made it about half way through before I could tell that her attention was shifting. Besides, it's an allegory, and at 3.5 years old, she's still pretty concrete in her interpretations of texts. But even though she's probably too young for it still, I love it, and I look forward to reading it again and again. One of these days, I hope my daughter will appreciate it, too. Thank you, Mr. Reynolds, for such a wonderful, beautiful, and thoughtful little book.

Peter Reynolds does it again!! This book was a great read aloud for my 3rd grade classroom. After reading, students launched their own activities on how to follow their own path in life.

A much simpler and sweeter version of "oh the places you'll go"... an urging to find and follow your own star.

Move over "Oh the places you'll go" this is the new graduation book! This book has the perfect message for students graduating high school! Just follow your north star "and ask yourself where you want to go..."

I would buy every book the Peter Reynolds has illustrated if I could. I absolutely love his illustrations. He captures the true human spirit of children. I have now stopped giving the books to my grandchildren and keeping them here at home with me --I still share them when the grandchildren visit but now I also can read them over and over -admiring the illustrations and sentiment and many memories brought to the surface of my life as a mom of five wonderful, alive, happy children. This book was written and illustrated by Peter Reynolds -a double treat.

A lovely story about taking your own path and considering how others may be in the same place but a different situation/view point.
