Repeat buyer. This is the real deal
I have avg grey hair with slight wave. Half a thumbnail is all I need after I shower. I rub it in my palms, apply, brush through, and have a great non-sticky, non-greasy, soft hold that keeps my hair where I want. It's beeswax & clay, so it can build up slightly, but never greasy/oily, and an extra shampooing easily gets it all out if needed. I'm cheap, but don't mind paying for this. I first ordered Aug 2024. Just bought my second jar today April 2025. If you want beeswax and clay they are the first two ingredients listed. 👍🏻👍🏻[FWIW, I tried a different brand's tobacco vanilla stuff (smells nice) but it was sticky, lost it's hold, and left my hair poofy. ]

Great product and results!
I recieved one of these as a gift from a friend so I tried it out and liked it so much I started using it regularly. I was glad to find ut on Amazon and a good price. It's very easy to use and it doesn't take much so the jar lasts quite awhile. This pomade has great hold for styling without making your hair stiff. It also makes your hair very healthy looking and shiny. It holds up well throughout the day and is easy to wash out. I highly recommend this product!

Works well enough
It works fine for the most part, it can be hard to apply in low temperatures, and the amount of product you get for the price is a bit mismatched.

Excellent hold, texture, and value
I have been using this product for a few weeks now and am very happy. I was concerned by a few bad reviews on this product, but excited by its rating of 0 for chemicals tested to cause cancer, and 2 overall at the Skin Deep Cosmetic Database.PACKAGINGOne of the reviews stated they were shipped a 2oz container, although the item listing says 2.5oz. I can verify the item shipped to me was 2.5oz. The nice thing about a 2.5oz container is it is 0.5oz larger than all of the products I was using. So, already it is 25% more product. The container it comes in is very heavy and made of solid glass. It is a nice shape and not too fat, and easily fits in my hand when cupped without worry of dropping it.PRODUCTI use a substantial amount less of this Clay than I did other pomades, fibers, etc. I have thick red hair which is about 3" tall. I use about a pea sized amount of this, rubbing it briskly between both hands, and then very roughly rubbing it deep into my hair. This pea sized amount will easily last me all day. If my hair does start to fail at holding up I simply lightly dampen my hands, and run it through my hair for an instant re-hold. Like I will say later with the shampoo, this is very hard to wash out (and in this case, that's a good thing).Another review complained the product was too "clay like." I hate to break it to you, but if you buy this item thinking it's not a clay you're going to be disappointed. This product is more of a clay than it is anything else. Do not buy this product thinking it is a pomade. Clay, just like it sounds, is dirt. Now, don't be turned away from that! Clay is a very natural product that allows for a very nice matte finish with minimal crunch. However, when running your hands through hair with any type of clay in it you're going to feel almost a "balloon" like texture (it's not sticky).Another review said the product was hard to wash out. They're correct. When shampooing my hair it feels almost "dry" (but I'm pretty sure it's just the texture left on it, and not that it is actually dried out). This product does take a bit of shampoo to get out, but if you're going to just slap it right back in your hair again what does it matter?Another review said the product left a glue-like texture you could visibly see. If this product is doing that, it is because you probably dried your hair too much before applying it. To prevent this make sure you put the clay in shortly after towel drying your hair, or simply lightly dampening your hands and then running it through your hair either before application, or after. It also may be doing this because you didn't rub it in enough. Make sure when rubbing in this product to use a lot of pressure and briskly rub it evenly and deeply into your hair.OVERALLSo far I have been very happy with this product. I will continue to use this product and change my review if my impressions of it change in the future. As it currently stands I will be purchasing this item again, and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a well holding matte finish with minimal crunchiness.

Not fun to clean up
This product leaves a clay residue that coats your shower or sink. Literally couldn't clean it without aggressively scrubbing with a hard bristle brush. I guess it does what it should for hair, but there are other options that don't have this problem.

I was swayed by all the positive reviews, but unfortunately....
This is an awful product and has forced me to reconsider the entire trend towards independent boutique cosmetic products (especially among men). My hair is approximately 1 1/2 inches on top and, usually, clean-faded around the sides -- your pretty standard, if trendy, men's hair cut. Its texture is fine, and depending on the occasion I wear my hair rough parted to the side with some bangs, or put a comb through it and part it to the side. Doing a significant amount of research before buying a new men's hair product, and having familiarity with other clay-based products and texturizers (i.e. Aveda), I was admittedly excited about Baxter's and believed I had found a new "the one" or best-kept hair secret that would do everything I wanted it to do. Unfortunately, however, this product doesn't really do what its description--and its many positive reviews--purports that it does. Perhaps my experience can be summed up by discovering that this product is much, much more "pomade" than "clay", and pomades and my hair have never really got along, but here is my general and very terrible experience with Baxter Clay Pomade:Gives hair decent shine and masculine smell, however no matter the amount/quantity used, leaves hair notably flat, heavy, unmanageable, and without distinction or texture; difficult to apply evenly and provides poor coverage; since the product is so course and thick, despite rubbing and warming it between your hands at length its application can be a drag since it tends to even rip out a lot of your hair. It leaves an incredible residue and you'll find yourself cleaning-up any nearby glass surfaces since your inevitably product-soaked fingerprints will find their way all over everything (cleaning your phone screen 3 times a day). And, despite this product having no problem sloughing its grease all over your hands, ears, face desk and phone throughout the day, good luck removing it when you actually want to. As a few other reviews have mentioned, it is not even close to water soluble and you will need to wash/rinse your hair, at minimum, three times to fully remove Baxter Clay Pomade. Thus, to leave this review on a high-note, since this foolishly hyped product does nothing but leave your hair unwieldy, flat and greasy and with virtually no ability to remove it from your head, think of the build-up, think of the scalp acne.
