Great for use with manifold systems
This is the third time I've installed one of these valve box bases. They are absolutely perfect for use with the the manifold systems available from Orbit or Action Machining. They both support the valve and eliminate the need to use bricks or other blocking material to hold the box off of the pipes. The only downside is that they only make the base in one size and it only fits 12-inch-height valve boxes (I've used this base with both Orbit and NDS boxes) Tips for a perfectionist install: 1. When you install the "mousehole" covers on your valve box, drill a small hole through the cover and the box near the top of the cover (rounded end) and use an appropriate sized stainless steel sheet metal screw (or a stainless steel machine screw and a matching nut) to permanently secure the mousehole cover to the box. 2. Cut a piece of landscaping fabric (weed barrier) about 8 inches longer and wider than the base, and put it under the base before you install your valves and pipes. This keeps mud from seeping up from below. 3. If you are using pipe smaller than 1-inch, stuff some wadded-up pieces of landscaping fabric around the pipe where they go through the base. This keeps mud from seeping through the gaps between the pipes and the base. 4. After you've packed all the dirt back in around the box, vacuum out any dirt that's on top of the landscaping fabric from tip 2, then pour pea gravel inside the box and spread it around until it's about a half-inch deep int the bottom of the box.

Works great!! Also compatible with NDS riser cover box
This was a great base to incorporate your pass through fitting/lines. And works with a NDS base with minimal cutting. Before finding this I figured I was going to have to notch the cover box. Once you get the base in place you simply set the top on it. The base is also easier to level.

Easy install.
This platform works really well with orbit valves. Makes installation easy.

Good but had minor issues.
Good product, but disappointed it was damaged. It was shipped to me broken. Corner part was missing. So I don't know if it was sold as a defect. So I purchased a large cover that sits over it and modified it to work.

Huge Help
It’s huge help for home irrigation systems. I would suggest a bit more flexibility, but have no idea how they would do that. I’m not an engineer!

Orbit's Valve Box Base is a Great Addition
I ordered this via Amazon Prime and got it within 2 days, so as usual Amazon Prime rocks. I originally was using 4 bricks to hold my valve box up and allow the space for the PVC to exit, which looked fine before burying everything and when I had my custom manual manifold, but my expectations changed, and I ended up getting the Orbit 3 valve pre-assembled manifold from my local Home Depot. On the manifold's box it shows this base which HD doesn't sell, so while looking for additional components for the manifold I figured what the heck, I'll make things cleaner and easier for an extra $10. The base not only makes it nicer, but keeps dirt out, and most of all it has the bottom plastic pieces which help to hold the valves in place without touching the ground which would have been a problem for me if I went with only the bricks. I didn't want them to sag, but didn't want them to touch the ground. I felt like it was my birthday and this was the best gift I got, but that feeling could have been due to this was one of the last pieces to what started out as a quick project, but ended up morphing into a much bigger one which took a bit longer than I expected. One minor observation, when burying it, make sure the exit hole covers don't move and are flat on the box. I opened my valve box recently to check a leak and found some dirt came in. Turns out that when I buried it, the dirt pushed it off the side of the box about a half inch. The bottom of the cover piece is flat and perhaps as I was happily shoveling in the dirt to this final section, it pulled off, but you should be good if you hold it in place and cover it first, then start dumping the shovel loads on.

Great base for Orbit valve manifolds, but where's the box?
I've bought 5 of these so far, and may purchase a couple more when we open up the next garden. They fit the Orbit valve manifolds perfectly. But guess what does NOT fit? The Orbit boxes! Totally ridiculous situation. We have a Ewing Outdoor Supply store near here. They sell two different boxes that fit this base perfectly (I brought the base into the store to test fit them.) One is 80% more expensive than the other. Unfortunately, the lower-cost one that fits has no brand name. So bring yours to a store and test fit. Or measure carefully and order even more carefully!

I'm a DIY guy and have configured residential irrigation systems in about three homes. Generally I have two manifold boxes, with three or four valves each. Using this base really makes a clean installation possible. The valves sit nicely on the frame, holes are provided for source water and zone lines, and the box sits right on it. Using this costs you a bit, but you'll be glad you spent the extra - highly recommended!
