This is some interesting stuff
I got this on a whim. The 1st time i tried it, i was not impressed. It was too dry and hard to spread. Still I start what I finish and I patched a decent size drywall hole. I went back the next day and checked on it. What i found was amazing, the whole was totally patched, the spackle didnt shrink and it was so smooth, I couldnt hope to have replicated it with joint compound. The next time I used it, I added some water to a spoonfull of spackle and mixed it. It basically turned into soup. I added more spackle, and more and more until finally i had the entire container mixed with the water......... and it was still too runny. I left it to airdry an hour and it became usable again. The point of that story is if you add water its much easier to work with. But add it a couple drops at a time. If you add a shotglass worth itll be like cloudy water.

good but…
ok so i got the 8oz pack first that came with the one patch and the tool, didn’t have enough. but the 8oz one was a little more moist than this 16oz one. the reviewer who said to add like the smallest amount of water and mix is GOD SENT. i included a picture of two types of holes i had, left side only has the grid type patch but the right side has the little aluminum plate in it. left side i used a little water, right side no water in the mix. it’s easy to use once you put some water in it and also mix and scrape and mix and scrape like kneading dough/clay. you HAVE to cap it. for some reason it drys way faster IN the little container than it does on the wall. i also think it does need that small spit of water to fix the flakiness because it does say it’s spackling AND primer and the “paint” probably dries it out and makes it flaky. dried it looks AMAZING. i added a picture of an old hole i fixed with the 8oz pack.

Good product
Very good product! The texture is very different almost a thin whipped feel. But it works great especially for fine detail/finishing work. Not sure how it would work on a large hole or area. Bit what i used it for it was great. Dried quick, took the paint well.

Only good for specific types of patch jobs.
Pros: Dries very hard, holds up great, good value, great for nail or screw patches... maybe quarter size patches. Cons: Very fluffy, can be messy to apply, needs some effort to get it to stick in place, horrible for ceiling patch jobs (because it's not easy to apply, fluffy and falls off scraper = makes a mess), doesn't stick to paint at all well when using a mesh patch (hard to get clean edges around mesh patch square), takes work to get it smooth with sanding, very very dusty when sanding... mind you that you can buy competitors brand that's made to be dust free when sanding.

Arrived dried out and unusable
I've been a Gorilla customer for years, but this spackle arrived dried out and unusable. No adhesion. Crumbly. Could not be smoothed with a putty knife. Could not be thinned with water. I could not return it because I had tried to use it. I had to throw it out, stand in line at the local hardware store to buy a reliable replacement, and start my wall repair over again.
