Yes. You snap a piece unit a base and that's it! The base is smaller then my other one.

Q: Can it hold a 50lbs vanity mirror

I don't think so. It is not very sturdy in my opinion. I have a lighted mirror on top that's about 25 lbs and it definitely holds it but it's very rickety in my opinion. If your knees touch it, it shakes and certainly no one can lean on it even a little. It is very nice looking but not very sturdy so I would not recommend putting a 50lbs mirror on top.
