Q: Does this case have a USB input to allow the dock to be permanently connected (and the phone charge when docked)?

Yes, there's 2 ports, a USB C to wirelessly charge while connected, and an aux port to connect phone's dac to the vehicle. It's very convenient just put the phone on the dock and go.

Q: Can it be monted on a bike ?

Without other parts not. But it has standard size ball. I changed bottom part and use it on glas in car. When you find some mounting part for boke with right ball size, you can use it.

Q: Is this compatible with the moto z3?

It has to be, from z1 to z3 they are all the same, the back of the z4 is slightly different, but the mods work, just don't fit right.

Q: Mods don't work if there's a case or back on the phone. Is this mod worth the hassle of always putting the case on and off?

This is what I did. I got this case: https://www.amazon.com/Verizon-Motorola-Moto-Droid-Two-Tone/dp/B01N79JYKN/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1492832958&sr=8-3&keywords=z+force+bumper . It's available through verizon too or some places on ebay. It will allow you to use all the Moto Mods with it on, including the car charger. I got a 25% discount at a verizon store through my company since they have a deal with verizon. Then I bought a magnetic cover for the back, like this: https://www.amazon.com/Force-Droid-Incipio-Droid-Iridescent-Nautical/dp/B01KGS6RY8/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1492832588&sr=8-4&keywords=incipio+back+cover+moto+z+force . It will then protect the back and also is easy to just take on and off. Or get one of the Tumi/incipio/ Mophie batteries, they are actually easier to take on and off and add protection and batt life. Then put tempered glass on the screen to prevent it from scratching/ breaking as easily (I have the Z Force so not so worried of breaking). Then boom, easy to use/ swap to the dash mount and your phone is still protected fairly well.
