Q: Can I lay this on its side... or on its back if I use a stand that doesn't block the intake?

Definitely not on its back. That is the only air intake on the unit. The side might be OK but concerned with the inside fans and blower. Recommend to have at least 10 inches of surrounding space. Designed to be used as a tower for better air flow and circulation

Q: Can u turn the uv light off?

Of course you can! 😊 It's an optional button that you switch on or off. Once switched on, it will run for only 20 minutes then UV-C light will automatically turn off. 20 minutes would be more than enough to disinfect the filter. Hi Nicholas, We are using UV-C lights. The UV light has a lifespan of over 15000 hours. We do not have replacements for UV lamps on the unit. In case you are having issues, feel free to refer to our lifetime warranty. Thanks!
