Something about the rythym...
Cute pictures, good size book. Great idea about the city bus too! But something about the rhythm is off on this one. For the moms and dads who read LOTS of books out loud, you'll catch it immediately. Too many words on one stanza, some of the words don't really rhyme, etc. Maybe I'm being too critical, but when I have to read a book 100 times to my daughter, I want it to be a little less "clunky".

Excellent kids' book!
Not sure who really enjoyed this book..me or the kids! Being in the transit business, one can rarely find anything written about city buses. This book was right on......the artwork was so colorful, superb! Ended up giving it to one of our bus drivers for his little girl. About to order another....

My toddler and I love this book
My toddler and I love this book! It counts from 1 to 10 and back again from 10 to 1 with cute rhymes. The story line is very realistic and introduces my little boy to how public transportation works. Winner.

Great Bus Book
My three year old grandson loves buses and everything about buses. This is my favorite book I could find about buses. Would definitely recommend it for all young children.

Mediocre writing, numbers are not represented clearly, sexist. Overall, a poor choice for children.
There are plenty of things the author could have chosen as an activity for the girls in this book, but he chose talking on the phone, complete with speech bubbles saying "Blah! Blah! Blah!" and "Yak! Yak!" Ugh. And they do that for the whole book, whereas the dirty boys get off the bus to go to a basketball game. They could have gotten off the bus to do anything (go do homework or go play at the playground, for example), but no, the author chose to just have them keep talking on the phone, reinforcing a negative stereotype. There are 3 "firemen." Firefighters is a better term, more evocative of what the purpose of that job is, and is inclusive. There is some diversity in this book, but it didn't make up for the sexism for me.Also, it's just not that great of a book. The sentences are labored, rhymes are mediocre. Another reviewer described it as "clunky," and Iwholeheartedly agree. Parents and caretakers who read frequently to their children, as I do, will notice that there is something "off" about the writing in this book.Perhaps most importantly, as it seems that the purpose of this book would be to show children a visual representation of the first ten numbers, the author and illustrator chose for the number 9 to be represented by 9 fleas on each of the 8 dogs. By doing this, the number 9 isillustrated by 72 small dots. How does this make any sense? I can't believe no one realized this was a bad idea.If you are looking for a much better book that succeeds where this book fails, which is also in a similar format, you could try Hippos Go Berserk! by Sandra Boynton. That is a very clever book. This is the first book that I've felt like putting in the recycling bin. I couldn't even donate this book in good conscience.EDIT: After Googling the author, I found out that he frequently steals the work of others and passes it off as his own. No wonder this book is so awful; apparently he has no talent of his own.

Great little bus book!
Recently picked up this book from Home Goods. Not a regular in the rotation yet but I still really like it. My son loves buses, the artwork is nice, it rhymes, and it goes over numbers too. I think it's great!
