Q: Whats the weight capacity for someone to sit on it

I don't know what the weight capacity is but they do allow me to sit on them and I weigh 200lbs. There are no signs of being near the weight limit such as groans, deflecting or bowing sides or deformation. BUT, they are really minimalist in construction as well as being much smaller than you would anticipate so I don't know how often I could continue to sit on one with no issues.

Q: Mine has a strange smell to it when i took it out of the box. is this normal? what do i do to get rid of it?

Mine had a bit of a smell when they first arrived. But after unpacking them and assembling them I let them sit without the lid for a couple of days and they seemed fine after that. Hopefully that works for you. Sorry I don't have a better answer.

Q: Could this be used outdoors? Waterproof in case it rains?

Very doubtful. It has seams across the top, which will let water in. It’s not completely flimsy, but I suspect it’s made with thick cardboard. I wouldn’t use it outdoors.

Q: How much weight can you place on them?

I only have it for Over counter medicines and nick-nacks. I do not think this is for carrying weight, it is cardboard made. Very handy for nick-nacks.
