Sweet, funny and a little different.
I started reading this book not having even looked at the blurb. Coming from Heather Grace Stewart I already knew it was going to be good. Here we have Cat, a thirties-something mom of two teenage daughters. She struggles, with her weight, self-esteem and general outlook on life. She’s had a lot to deal with and life seems intent on dragging her down. Until one day, when she switches on a Wii Fit machine she’s just bought second hand, and the personal trainer materializes right there in her living room. He’s a genie. You now, like in the bottle. Only he’s gone all modern day and uses electronic devices instead of a dusty old bottle. From here on, magic, mayhem, and of course love, ensues. But as we all know, things are never straightforward and easy. This story could have been a little childish and fanciful if it wasn’t for the wonderful writing of Heather Grace Stewart. It all flows seamlessly through beautiful prose without sounding flowery and over the top romantic. It has flair, quirkiness, comedy-gold moments and heart achingly real characters. We can all recognize at least one of our self perceived flaws in Kat and Gene. Their struggles, both within themselves and with others, is something everyone will go through to some extent in their lives. It’s real life, real people —mostly — all condensed into one funny and compelling story crammed into a bottle… ehrr… book. You won’t regret reading it, and I am now starting on the sequel.

short
Good story, but have read whole book in an hour-if wasnt a free one, I would feel very cheated-I have beeen reading 2 or 3 in one boxsets on kindle lately-last one 1668 pages-this book ended on 160... very short. as said, it was a good story-but only a few hours in past in one chapter, not like other time travel books. Not sure if will read more by this author. I guess it would be nice to know what has happened to Gene, but if short again I will just think it should have been one book and not do free 1st one-it really is very short...

A magical holiday read!
When I heard that Heather Grace Stewart was writing a novel, I was eager to read the result. I have been a fan of her poetry for several years and wondered if I would like her change of genre.“Strangely, Incredibly Good” is a light, fun read; in fact, the ideal holiday book! With its mixture of magic, romance and reality, there is plenty to keep most readers turning the pages avidly. This short novel introduces us to the character of Cat Glamour. She is in her late 30s and has several problems in her life that she is unable to deal with. Her self-esteem is low, following a tragic incident in her teens and then an abusive marriage. To compensate for her unhappiness and guilty feelings, Cat has over eaten and become very over weight, much to the dismay of her two daughters. Her 91 year old grandmother is supportive, but Cat seems unable to turn her life around until…….And this is where the fun begins! In a more positive frame of mind, Cat decides to try using a Wii as a means of becoming fitter. Imagine her amazement - and mine, I have to add - when a handsome young man appears from inside the machine and announces that he is a genie who has been trapped in the Wii. He is there to grant her three wishes and Cat is now his “Master”. The rest of the story involves lots more magical events, which eventually set Cat on a different road.To be absolutely honest, this is not a genre that I would normally choose to read, but I am really glad that I decided to buy this e-book. It was whimsical and fun, with surprising twists and turns. I enjoyed the characters and found it easy to suspend belief for the reading of the story. We can all do with some fantasy in our lives, I think…..and what a delightful thought: a handsome man stepping out of my Wii Fit!I hope Heather continues to write novels, as well as poetry, as I am now a fan of both!
