I have a king size memory foam mattress on mine and it holds just fine, I love it!

Q: Can i use a box spring so my bed isnt so close to the floor?

Depending on how tall your box spring is. You don’t want it to tall because it won’t fit the bed frame itself. The slats fit it perfect depending on the size of your mattress and your not going to be so close to the floor either way.

Q: Does the leather peel off over time ?

No it doesn't. The seams are very strong. You will like the craftsmanship of this product. I am very satisfied with this product. I think you will also.
