Q: Do these work good in water?

Yes, they are great in water. I have worn them kayaking where they get soaked getting in and out of the kayak, and they are just great...drying out vey quickly.

Q: What is the difference between the narrow and wider, flatter cord? Advantage / disadvantage? Mahalo

There was not an advantage or disadvantage that I could tell. It seemed that was more about the look than anything. Honestly, I went with the best price I could find in a color I liked. The more I wear them the more I like them.

Q: How can you wash these?

I have not washed this pair yet, but I have another pair that is gray with red lace, and has closed heel (shoe not sandal). I put them in wash machine in cold water and they did fine.

Q: i always order my keens 1/2 size larger than my normal shoes. are these sized the way most keens are or should i go up another 1/2 size?

I ordered a half size up, 8 1/2 instead of an 8 and they fit great! I could have maybe worn an 8, but I have a wide foot.
