Q: Is it totally necessary to install the flow diverter? The showerhead is stuck and cannot be removed.

I didn't install the diverter but when I turn the water on it drips out of the shower head. I'm not sure if that is from me not installing the diverter or if it is just our shower head acting weird. It still works fine though!

Q: How long is the hose?

The hose is only 59 inches if you count the 1-1/14 inch connector on each end of it. If you don't include these in the measurement (and I don't, because they do not lend functional length to the apparatus), then the actual hose is only 56 and 1/4 inches long - which is nearly 4 inches shy of 5 feet!

Q: Does it have a Start/Stop button?

No start/stop button. You turn it on and off by turning the water for the tub on and off. But don't buy this. Despite the fact that my tub spout is literally identical to one of the ones in the diagram of the styles it is made to fit, I have a nearly impossible time attaching it every time I use it. No matter how I adjust it, I have water spraying everywhere, except out the sprayer where I want it. I hate this device and I wish I had bought something else.
