Just what we needed
My daughter just started at a new school that required violin. We ordered this for her new violin lessons and its perfect. Makes it more comfortable when playing and also comes with the other required things for her class. Thanks for the great deal and product!

It works. Some people are dramatic and possibly uncoordinated.
What are people expecting for such a specialized but simple product? I purchased this for our son's entry-level 1/2 size violin. His instrument is rented for the year and we don't even know if he will stick with it, so I didn't want to spend a lot. The teacher sent him home with a foam block and rubber band, so this is a step up. It's sturdy enough and has a good degree of adjustability. My opinion is anyone breaking this has no idea how it should be put on and is obviously forcing it. The proper way is to set it first by eye and try to slip it on. If you're forcing it, stop and loosen it. If it's too loose and not grabbing, tighten it a bit. It should slip on with a BIT of resistance and fit snugly. Once you find the right setting, it just slips on and removes without re-adjustment. The only downside to needing one of these is most off-the-shelf violin cases have no means of storing it, so it has to be carried separately - but that's not the product's fault. For those of you outfitting your child's Stradivarius and complaining that this is plastic, maybe look into purchasing a better quality one. But for a child's basic needs, this works fine. The key is coordination and not forcing it like a gorilla. Update: Our son elected to continue with the violin (as well as drum lessons - talk about 2 different worlds). The shoulder rest is still functioning and this year his newer rented violin has room in the case for it. NOTE: I purchased this item on Amazon for full price and have no affiliation to the seller. I try to write helpful, unbiased and insightful reviews because I also read reviews prior to making my own buying decisions. I notice many reviews lack helpful information, are not well written or give poor reviews based on not reading directions, failing to read the product details prior to purchasing or someone's inexperience or lack of skill. Writing valuable reviews helps pay it forward.

Decent product but product appeared used
The product itself seems decent so far. The box was torn on both ends and appeared used.

Perfect Fit
It was a perfect fit for 3/4 violin size, the cushion is very much extended so it's comfortable to use the violin on shoulder. Nice one!
