Q: Is the glue transparent or black?

The glue I purchased is clear, but it does come in other colors.

Q: Is this heat resistant? I need to repair the soles of my motorcycle boots.

On the tube it does not claim to be heat resistant. There are warnings of course to keep it away from heat while you're applying it, because of the volatile vapors. Says max strength may not be reached for 48-72 hrs depending on materials and temperature. I've used ShooGoo often, and I would venture to say that once it is dried and cured, it is as durable and resistant as any shoe or boot I've used it on.

Q: Do the tubes have an expiration date? How long before unopened tubes go bad?

No individual dates. I have one tube opened about 1 month and it hasn't dried up.

Q: Can it be used to repair a hole in the outside sole of a cowboy boot? Does it leave a noticeable bump on the sole when walking?

I used it to repair a hole on the sole of a pair of leather casual shoes. It works great, and does not create a bump when using the supplied tools to do so. I had to apply the goo three times (with it drying between applications). I’d highly recommend this product.
