Very good and responsive for 2nd screen in small work space.
I have been loving this monitor but I am having a hard time finding a long, high refresh rate HDMI cable available for purchase. It is very responsive and I use it constantly for work, a second screen for my laptop and even gaming at points for a desktop. Would recommend not using usb c from your computer to connect and power this device since you are taxing your computer's power supply unnecessarily and can wear it out faster. Just use HDMI and a power source, or a separate dedicated dock device to connect it to your computer safely.

Love this!
At my home office, I have my main computer display plus 2 external monitors. I travel a lot for work, and I felt really hampered using just the 1 display when traveling. I did a lot of research on which portable monitor to buy and finally landed on the 17 inch version of this one. I couldn't be happier.Set up was instant; just plugged it in and it worked (on a MacBook Pro). I use the USBC to carry both video and power from the laptop, so I only have to bring along 1 cord (although any others needed came with the unit.). My laptop screen is only 13", so the bigger screen is incredibly helpful.I've been using it for about 3 months now, on several different trips. I'm as happy now as I was when I first opened the box. It fits perfectly into my briefcase, and not too heavy, so it doesn't add a lot of weight. The included cover protects the screen great. And even though my main purpose was for traveling, I've discovered this has freed me a little from my desk when I'm at home. Even though I use my laptop in my home office, I pretty much never tried to work anywhere other than the office when I'm home, just because I didn't want to be limited to 1 screen, and moving my big monitors is way too much work. But now, I find myself occasionally working outside if the weather is nice, and it's really liberating! It's plenty bright enough for me to work outside on my porch, which is shaded. The speakers are about what you'd expect, which is not all that great, but certainly fine for zoom meetings. (I typically use the internal speakers on my computer. They're better than these.)I've seen other reviewers complain about the colors. I agree they're not perfect, but after I worked with it in the settings a bit, they got much better than out of the box. Still not perfect, but fine for all my applications.I've also seen a few reviews complaining about the kick-stand. I haven't experienced any issues with it. I really like how conveniently it folds up to put back in my briefcase.Overall, I'm extremely happy with this purchase. I've been recommending it to all my friends.

Great display when your office is wherever you are at
I work remotely, all over the US, and there is not a lot to say about this monitor-- it does what it is supposed to do, well. I was initially worried, because when I received my first one, I tried to open the stand, and it popped right off. Customer service was easy to work with and I got a replacement in short order. No issue two plus years later with the replacement and now have a second one-- again, no issues.I often rent equipment for meetings where everyone needs external monitors that do not block the sightlines between the attendees. My vendor saw mine portable ViewSonic and bought a bunch for their inventory-- again, all good. My only... warning (not a complaint) is that they are, as you would expect adverse to being knocked off desks. They are sturdy in that they continue to function, but the bottom of the facia /frame pops loose and does not pop back in very securely. I dot of hot glue does the trick, but the better fix is probably to knock them off desks in the first place, as they are in no way rated for being dropped from any height.

Side by side gaming review with the ROG Strix portable
This review is specifically for the 17" gaming monitor. I also ordered a refurbished version of the ROG Strix gaming monitor from Asus, with the intent to compare them. The ROG display is very expensive so part of the experiment was to see if the ViewSonic held up at a lower price. I'm not a professional gamer and mostly wanted this display for playing in my living room late at night, so my needs might be a little less demanding. Regardless, here is my breakdown:Speed: once set to "fastest" mode the ViewSonic actually felt a bit snappier than the ROG display. The ROG display seemed to emphasize smoothness over raw speed which is something I've noticed before with other Asus displays. Ultimately it's your choice what you prefer, but both my drills and real-time gameplay felt comparable. I use an LG Ultragear as my desktop gaming display and it steers towards speed over smoothness too, so for me the ViewSonic won by being similar.Color: neither of these monitors had color that could match my 27" LG Ultragear but that is somewhat to be expected. Overall I felt that the ROG display had good color while the ViewSonic colors steer towards brown. If you really care about bright vivid colors and have the extra cash this is one area where the ROG display really stands out.Brightness: neither of these displays are super bright but once again the ROG display was a bit brighter. The ViewSonic wouldn't let me adjust my brightness until I set it to the "custom" preset, but once I turned the brightness to 100% I found it perfectly acceptable. Subtle nod to the ROG display but less so than the colors.Form Factor: the ROG display comes with a big attachment on the back so that you can hook it to a custom stand, but the stand costs a lot of extra money and the built-in one doesn't offer a lot of angle flexibility. It also comes with a zip-cover and an internal battery for playing without a charge. The zip cover is meh and I don't need an internal battery—I can just power the display via USB-C. The ViewSonic has a really nice built-in stand and the magnetic cover is also nice. The ViewSonic wins here for nailing the basics and leaving out the unnecessary extras.Overall: I'd say the ViewSonic wins by offering 80% of the value at 3/5 of the price. If Asus could bring down the price of the ROG display by even $100 I think it might win—but $500 is a lot to spend on a secondary display. The ViewSonic is already a massive upgrade over my cheap 60hz portable display, and since I'm not a professional gamer, I really don't need to blow the bank.
