MiOYOOW 4-Digit DIY Digital Clock Kit with Acrylic Shell, Electronics Alarm Clock Soldering Practice Kit with Adjustable Brightness, DIY Soldering Project for School Learning and Home Office Use

This was the first little project kit I got to try and learn how to solder and I couldn’t be more happy with the results. I learned a lot in the process and the clock worked perfect first try after I finished building it. I definitely recommend it to anyone else who is also interested in learning how to solder and needs a first practice kit.

Fun and easy to build

Overall decent project. Bad: I had to order a 2nd unit to finish it because a capacitor was missing. The instructions could be more thorough especially for a "learning project". Pictures are not very clear and differentiating the parts can be difficult. Setting the time and other settings can be difficult. Good: It works! The display is brighter than I expected. I am new to soldering and was able to do this easily. There was some challenging parts where you have to fit the iron into tight spots without melting plastic connectors (real learning experience).

The electronics assembly went well and the project started up immediately. If you are powering the device from a non-USB source, use 5 VDC (do not use 12 VDC!). Initial programming is a bot complex, but a QR code leading to better instructions was a big help. I gave this product three stars because of the quality of the case. Not all of the holes and slots required for assembly were cut into the acrylic. DO NOT attempt to drill the missing holes (or the missing slots) yourself; you will (as I did) break the acrylic sheets. I did not ask for a replacement case; I did not have confidence that a new one would be any better at this price point. Instead, I plan to build a simple case from stained glass!

I was really surprised at how well this turned out. It was my first ever board soldering experience after just doing some soldering on a practice board. Components fit well and only one area on the board had a tight small bit of space to fit the soldering iron. But everything went together just as the easy to follow instructions said they would. The clock has so many functions it takes a while to learn the many things those two little buttons can do. No missing parts, but no extra parts so if you lose one of those little components you better have some spares available. Overall I would definitely recommend..

I have quite a bit of experience building electronic kits and this one is the worst I've ever seen. Some of the applications of circuits seem out of order and you must have a very small soldering iron to have proper clearance. After finishing, the battery sent with it would not work, after plugging in the unit to a USB supply one of the numbers in the display did not light. The instructions for set up are horrible. No written instructions come with the unit, you must use your cellphone or print them out on your computer. Not worth the money, even though it was only $10.

This review is for the 4-Digit Multifunctional Clock Kit. I loved it! I'm currently learning electronics and wanted to practice soldering, and this kit was just perfect for that. I really enjoyed assembling this clock. Overall, the instructions are easy to follow, though a few steps could be explained more clearly or placed in a different order. Still, the whole experience was very satisfying. The clock looks great, and I love that it also shows the temperature - a very nice extra feature!

I bought this in 2023. I did not realize at that time how small everything was. Not sure why brain didn't make that 'connection'. Now 2026 having acquired more knowledge (U of YT) and tools I finally put it together. It was my 2nd soldering project. It was easy to assemble with the instructions. I did go thru parts to make sure all were there and that I knew exactly what was what. So I am commenting on a product I bought 3yrs ago so things may have changed. I felt the instructions were very clear to understand (English). And the pictures were 'spot-on'. It is a very busy board so I did have difficulty putting in the display module and soldering that but it all came out well. Learning to program it now. I have set the alarm and waiting for that to go off. I believe this 2023 module only displays temp in C. Sadly as an American I was never taught nor self learned metric. This will teach me something about temps tho. If it has been updated since I don't know. I was surprised how smoothly assembly went. The case was another story. I felt it took me longer to do that than assemble to clock. Overall, for this item from 2023 I am pleased. The packaging was typical of a lot of these projects... thrown in a bag all jumbled. Some others a very well separated. But again a simple project does not require such packaging and that adds to price. Just make sure all parts are there before starting.

This is SMALL...so you need to practice and have the right tip. Not great for a first or second project
