Yes, the Life P3 supports mono mode. Just take one earbud out from the charging case to use. If you are using two earbuds, you can put either one of the earbuds back into the charging case and continue using the other one on its own.

Q: what, besides pressure against ear canal, keeps these inside a person's ear?

It's really just a friction fit. I definitely wouldn't call it a "pressure fit". The earbuds are light enough, that they just hold in the ear, provided you can find the right size silicone cups for your ear.

Q: Do these pair with a PC?

Didn't try w PC but they pair quickly to Google smart tv w no prob.

Q: do these turn off automatically after a period of time or the only way is back in the case?

The earbuds will also turn off automatically when placed outside the case and have been disconnected from the device for 30 minutes.
