Bosch DSBE1006 DareDevil 6-Inch Spade Bit Extension

Good product

I have a set of standard length (6") Bosch DareDevil spade bits and needed to do a hole through about 6" of wood studs at the corner of a room for new wiring, just a little too deep for the standard length. I got this extension despite the pretty negative reviews. It worked perfectly. It held tight even though the drilling was tough and I had to use an impact driver instead of a drill in order to get the hole finished. The set screws are not the way I would have liked this to be designed, but they work, and you don't need to tighten them unreasonably. The connection to the spade bit held firm under considerable torque, and did not pull out when I pulled back to remove the bit. The advantage of this over some others I saw is that the cross section at the connection is small, so you can use it with the small bits, while the others I looked at have a fat connecting device and can't be used with the smaller spade bit diameters. The DareDevil spade bits themselves are vicious in the way they bite through wood. Really happy with them too. This is a very inexpensive item and I would certainly recommend it.

I ended up using two of these plus a long spade bit to reach entirely through a blind channel under an RV cabinet and drill a hole in the opposite wall to add a wiring circuit. A bit of a Rube Goldberg "solution," but these extensions worked precisely as I needed them to with no grief.

The only improvement that could be made is to find a way to store the Allen key inside of shaft--It really is a pain to keep together-they should at least have a plastic clip that is removable to attach Allen key to shaft

Of course, it only works with the hex shank bits. When drilling through sheet rock, which is how I always use it, the sheet rock dust gets into the bit anchoring screws making them difficult to loosen. I cleaned them with WD40, but the next time I used it, one of the bolts fell out. :( Be careful!

Purchase this along with the Bosch spade bits, it was a great price and you never know when you're going to need that extra length for project.

Great for extending out

Quality Bosch product that works well. Most spade bit extenders are cheap and quickly fail to retain the bit .... not this one.

Used with a spade bit for a couple more inches or reach. Did the job.

I was expecting a hexagonal hole ar the end but it's just a round hole and only 2 set screw stop it from spinning

Works like a charm I don’t use it everyday but when needed ,just use the set screws and extend your bit when your done take the drill bit out and stash it for next time
