Q: Got the battery and put it to charge right out the box, no lights or anything even when I press the button or when its charging??

Check and see if the battery is full when you install it in the drone if not the battery is bad send it back

Q: Has anybody brought these batteries on the plan when flying domestically or do they need to be checked in?

Very vague question. “Bought the batteries on the plan “what plan??? Checked in?? Are you asking about A custom issue?? Bottom line the only feedback I can give you is that the DJI FPV intelligent flight batteries do not live up the advertised 20 minutes of flying time per battery. Watch a multitude of YouTube videos and you will see many subscribers will show battery life of various times, 80% of them under a 10 minute battery life Per flight, Some as low as five minutes battery flight time.

Q: Whast the warranty on this? Seems i'm one of the many with a bad battery i just checked.

Check DJI webpage. They state there the warranty timeframe (should be one year after the date printed on your proof of purchase). File a claim with their customer service center and wait for their instructions. I went through this process with them... all worked well (but it takes like 3 weeks for all the process).

Q: Does this work for the Avata?

No. The FPV and AVATA use different batteries. Due to the shape of the battery brackets, the batteries are not interchangeable.
