I make videos for YouTube and for work and I wanted a soft, bright and controllable light to improve the quality of the videos. When this unit arrived I charged it (it has a UK mains plug) and then tried it out. I'm delighted with the power output (controllable both as to amount and colour temperature) and the softness of the light. Whatever covering they have over the LED lights gives a very nice soft quality to it. It's essentially its own small softbox. It feels solidly made, looks good and it's a sensible size yet still very slim. The removable tripod mount foot gives some extra versatility although I have light stands so I'll screw the light straight onto them. I was a bit surprised at just how much power this puts out. It allowed me to drop the ISO on my camera, for better video quality. As the light is both rechargeable and colour temperature controllable it would make for a great fill or accent light outdoors. Of course you can also use this for still photography, not just video. I did some test shots of my watches and it proves to be a very versatile light source. The even coverage allows for very fine control and coupled with careful placement you can get all kinds of lighting effects - which you can see in real time.

I am really happy with the Raleno video light. It's nice and compact, very bright and the warm range is enough for what I need. I particularly like that the controls are on the side, since it allows me to lay it flat and perfectly horizontal on a table, which is great to scan negatives. Most of all the other video lights don't offer this. The LCD at the back is also very bright and clear. The only drawback is then when I reduce brightness, the color shifts. So you have to adjust the temperature again. Overall, I am very happy with this product.

This is fantastic. It's at a price point where it's worth taking a gamble as someone who's relatively new to getting into video and streaming. In particular, with the mounting options I thought this would be great for assisting in recording time lapse videos for me. The ability to set a colour temperature is perfect because I like a nice strong-but-even daylight colour and the variability gives me the control to balance against the various ambient lighting I have in different locations, and perfectly tune the lighting based on the time of day I'm doing the recording. I'm usually very fussy with colour temperature and this flexibility was very welcome. I've been using this with an articulated arm that I also bought from amazon. The light itself comes with a connector based around the standard 1/4" threaded screw that you'll find on most DSLR level camera equipment. The supplied fixing is also actually compatible with the go-pro style interlocking-fingers style connector too, whilst also including a standard hot-shoe mount, so it's very versatile. With the colour is really easily to balance in post with the high CRI of the lamps, and I feel like there might even be some fresnel layers in the lamp assembly because of how well blended the illumination is. You might wonder why I've included a photo of a load of sink pipework on my reviews - let me explain - although this light kit is clearly intended for photo/media use I also realised that the qualities that make it a great piece of photography kit make it amazing for DIY! The punchy, evenly dispersed flood fill of light, combined with the built in battery, and the fantastic colour rendering index meant that when I had to fix a leak under our kitchen sink (ended up replacing the tap) it was the simply the best thing I've ever tried for lighting the tight space under the sink. Even though I had my head between the light source and the taps the light was still very even and was plenty bright enough to see perfectly. Normally I'd have used a torch here, but flashlights are so directional you end up with shadows from all the pipes but this was so good at flooding the whole space the shadows were drastically reduced which made it so much easier to see what was going on. The photo speaks a thousand words. Even though it's not intended for DIY it's simply fantastic, and the battery lasted plenty long enough for the whole old tap decommission, removal and installation of the new taps. Next time you're in a tight space give it a try, I was pleasantly surprised!

I'm not going to waste time writing anything about how this light works, or taking photos of it, since other reviewers have done a good job of that and there are plenty of photos to see the size and how the display looks etc. The main thing that needs to be said is that this light is ridiculously bright - it can light an entire room really well, and I've used it on quite a few video shoots where the lights in the room weren't quite bright enough. It's like adding an extra bulb to a room, or opening the blinds. It's great. It goes from 1% to 100% brightness, but at 1% it's already pretty bright. That can be a little annoying sometimes since it doesn't feel much different at 1% to 20%, but I rarely need anything below its lowest setting. I don't know exactly how accurate the cool and warm tones are, but it seems decent, although it's markedly less bright when going to either extreme, and is brightest at 4200K, which is a little on the cold side. I've tested the battery time, and on 4200K (the brightest setting) on 100% power it lasts just under 90 minutes, which is impressive to say the least! I haven't tested it on the lower settings but I imagine it lasts for hours on 50% or below. You can also power it from the included DC adapter - but it has to be said that it's not a normal 5.5mm x 2.1mm jack like you get with most DC appliances these days, it's actually a 5.5mm x 3mm jack, which is really hard to buy an extension cable for, so you need to keep it close to a plug socket if you want to use it that way, or buy a socket extension. Not a huge deal, but it would have been nicer to use a standard adapter. The battery inside charges via the DC input and takes just under 2 hours to fully charge from 0%, which is pretty decent, and means you can potentially buy two and charge one while using the other, for a near constant availability of light source. It would have been nice to have a battery port on the back, but as a budget light goes it's really good. It's also very light, weighing in at just over 600g, which is only slightly more than two of the Sony NP-F970 batteries that are used to power a lot of other lights. Overall it's a really good quality budget light, and I've been really impressed by it! 👇🏻 If you find this review helpful, please click the helpful button below!
