Great system as long as you don't record sound
Great system for the price. Works very well. The only thing you should know is if you are also recording sound along with your cameras and then transfer the video to a flash drive or dead drive, there is no audio. It does not transfer. Even though it says it will, it doesn't. Worked with their tech support for two weeks and they finally said it does not work. If you are only using this to view video from cameras and to play back on the DVR and over Internet, this unit works very well.

The camera picture is okay, not fantastic, but it's not the highest quality either.
The camera picture is okay, not fantastic, but it's not the highest quality either. The DVR works fine, I like the system (especially at the $90 I paid for it) and it was easy to set up.Tip: There are TWO Amcrest apps in the app stores. One is for the older systems (which I used to have) and another SPECIFICALLY for the 960H models (it says 960H in the title in the App store). The instructions say to download THE WRONG ONE. After messing with it for about an hour I tried the 960H app and it worked perfect.

Can be hard to install and has some bugs.
It took a while to install into my house and I had to drill some over-sized holes in a couple walls to be able to get the BNC and 12V plug through the holes. Otherwise the coax is only about 1/8" thick. After installing everything it took many hours to program the DVR for things like, monitor, cameras, alarm parms, etc. It was really detailed but eventually I got it. After running a few days I adjusted the alarm sensitivity and areas for each camera and I thought I had it except for the bugs in the DVR software and apparently no updates. The worst bug is a camera will detect motion when there is no motion and continue to detect until you go into the settings and change the sensitivity. Next day same problem - goes into motion detection and records continuously until I intervene. I'm going to try some work arounds but for now that's considered a major problem. Other than that it would be nice to be able to attach a camera with a telephoto lens (to see when the mail truck arrives) but I haven't seen any for sale. I have it connected to an old VGA monitor and my 50" TV and it looks good but only as good as the cameras resolution.

No WiFi capability - very poor customer service
I bought these camera on Amazon Prime day - thinking it was a good deal. It is, kind of. It took a thief trying to steal my truck in my garage WHILE I WAS HOME to get me to finally have the cameras installed. I was lucky and had co-workers willing to do the dirty work. There’s no way I could’ve done this on my own. It definitely requires someone with IT knowledge. After installing them, I found out why it was so cheap. There is no WiFi ability to be able to see the device on my phone app. Turns out I have to have a hardwired Ethernet cable installed from my bedroom (where the router is), into the living room where the dvr is. It will be very inconvenient to have my friend come back out and crawl up there again. The customer support SUCKS. You get someone in a foreign country that could barely be understood without difficulty. The instructions that come with the cameras doesn’t say anything about needing the Ethernet connection, it took 4 calls to get someone to tell me that was what the problem was. They just sent me links to their YouTube videos that were irrelevant to my situation. EXTREMELY disappointing and frustrating. On one hand, I’m pleased that the cameras themselves are pretty good...but I’m very disappointed with the customer service and instructions that come with them. The app only has 2 stars...and I can see why. I recommend you do more research and make sure you’re tech-savvy if you buy these cameras. I wanted hard wired cameras so I didn’t have to worry about batteries dying and climbing up to change them, so that is one positive side to this...I don’t have to worry about that. I just need to get it to my phone.... good luck!

Can't Beat it for the Price!
I was looking for a 4 camera DVR security system, Amcrest caught my eye. Since I was wanting to stay around $200, I was quite pleased to get a reconditioned unit. Cameras are all metal housing, substantial in quality and workmanship. Once the wiring was strung and cameras installed, the unit powered up as expected. After the DVR warmup, all the cams came on. Night vision is a plus, as it is infrared, not the best picture, but workable. Daylight camera shots all great. Has WiFi capability through LAN connect directly to router. The Amcrest app for my phone is pretty kool for remote viewing. All in all I'm impressed at the quality and workmanship in the system, which meets my needs perfectly.

Disapointing
First the good part. The packaging is one of the better I've seen for damage control. Neatly packed in individual boxes, inside two cases, inside the product box inside the shipping box! Everything is there for hook up and self explanatory. Easy connect cables for camera and computer. Now to get it going, I had to call the 800# , wait for 40 minutes and have a fast talking Indian guy go into my computer and install a program to make it work. The Amcrest website does NOT have a link for me to answer my questions like this. So it is up and running but I can't figure out how to do the replay. No link or FAQ. This is very disappointing since that makes the unit only good if you have someone watching it constantly. The images are just OK, a bit blurry, there isn't much definition in a face and you can't make out a license plate. This is very disappointing.I might have to go for a better quality and HD.

Poor product quality and technical support
Have had trouble with the camera switching into night vision mode. Have contacted Amcrest support and keep getting the run around from different people to keep shining a flashlight at the camera to reset the ir sensor. I reply back to them but each time someone else has replied back to try the same. Same issue keeps randomly happening to other cameras but the one I've had trouble from the start cannot get resolved. Have had the system for less than 30 days and this much trouble already!? GeezPoor tech support and poor quality. Supprised because I read the reviews and chose this system.
