Q: can filter run without the uv?

Yes. It has its own switch on the top of the filter housing.

Q: 172 GPH would be too powerful for my 15 Gallon tank? Also does it come with the UV light?

We have it in a 20 gallon tank and the current is gentle.

Q: How much watts does it use per hour

UV LIGHT uses 7 watts. Pump uses 9 watts. 16 watts total. Andrew below didn't understand the question.

El caudal es fuerte al inicio no lo notas pero después denun rato cuando saca todo el aire del sistema si se nota la fuerza, lo recomiendo ,el.exito está en el tipo de material filtrante que se use y el.orden en las canastas
