Major Benefit for Subaru XT ((turbo)
I have a 2025 Subaru Outback XT 2.4 turbo engine and put this AEM filter in after a few months of driving the car with the Subaru OEM air filter. The AEM air filter has practically eliminated turbo lag. The quicker throttle response and more immediate acceleration is something very obvious and one I did not expect. The reduction in turbo lag was apparent right after the AEM filter was installed. The car now takes off like a jackrabbit! Drivability is smoother- sometimes when slowing down to a stop the car would stumble with OEM filter, which is now gone. Drive the car for several days for the engine control module to adapt for better drivability and turbo response. Gas mileage has improved. I’ve been using AEM and K&N filters for years with excellent results on previous Subaru Outbacks with 2.5i normally aspirated engines. Easy to clean and long lasting. The filter looks square but is not- install with slats running vertical, not horizontal like OEM filter. Fits like a glove. Highly recommended!

Exactly like K&N but without the oil, because it is.
I've been buying K&N filters for 25 years, it's the first accessory I purchase with every new vehicle. Contrary to what Amazon says, this AEM filter fits just fine in my 2025 Subaru Impreza Sport. I've never had any issues with MAF sensors using K&N filters, but seeing how complex and computerized this Impreza Sport is I got uneasy considering the K&N filter. That's when I discovered AEM, which is owned by K&N. The AEM is exactly like the K&N down to the metal mesh holding the filter material, but with zero oil applied. It can be easily cleaned with no requirement for oil which saves a ton of money over time just like K&N. I get a bit more growl from throttling and about 1mpg increase in mileage which aligns exactly with my previous K&N filters. Acceleration appears to have improved by 2-3% but that could just be in my head due to the louder "growl" it provides. Regardless of whether this AEM filter will improve your MPG or acceleration, it's still worth every penny not having to drop $20-30 on a paper or foam filter when it needs replacing.

2024 Impreza RS. Fit perfect.
Works great in my Impreza RS. Fit perfect, little better gas mileage, little more intake noise.

Good balance of performance/protection
I came from using Cosworth high flow dry filters on my old Impreza, over to K&N oiled on my new one. K&N never caused me any problems and always performed well, but I still prefer dry filters over oiled. The AEM has filled that sweet spot, and so far I actually feel like throttle response and sound are better with AEM, and gas mileage has stayed about the same as with K&N. Total maintenance matters, so if a single air filter is causing you major shifts either way in gas mileage, it's not just a filter issue. Solidly built, great fit and easy installation. Highly recommended!

Fits perfectly 22 WRX plus more induction noise that’s never a bad thing that’s for sure

Fits great
Installed in a 2020 subaru forester. No noticeable change in mileage or acceleration nor intake noise. However, the seal around this filter fit the air box like a glove and I'm happy I can wash it out instead of tossing it.

Well made
Does great. Easy to wash and no oil on my mass airflow sensor.

A good and permanent replacement filter.
Fits perfectly so easy to install. A slight but noticeable improvement in performance of my 2019 Forester. Less expensive than K&N but made by them. Just remember maintenance!

The difference in filtration is insignificant. We are taking less than a percent with ease. Yes, cellulose is better. Yes, I would buy this surgical cotton filter again. 1 filter, 1 lifetime. You won’t gain power with an NA engine and if you get better fuel mileage, your maintenance was not up to par. Don’t overthink it but please, don’t buy K&N unless you are racing on the track. Your MAF sensor will thank you. (200$+)

Despite what Amazon says it fits a 2021 crosstrek. Easier to fit than the one on my wifes 2011 Subaru forester. Dont have to remove the airbox from the intake tube. Better than paying Subaru $50 each year to replace it
