Great & Many Uses
I use these mostly to freeze individual portions of meat and fruit for smoothies. Except for the meat bags, I rinse and reuse them too. They are thicker and hold up well. Occasionally one tears on the end of the zip closure. That could be designed better, but overall my favorite bags for all purposes. I use them to carry clean gloves with me for COVID protection when I'm out and unable to wash my hands to protect them from the harsh hand sanitizers. It's easy to change gloves as needed and wash them when I get home. I use them to store household goods like small hardware as well. And, of course, refrigerated product I have cut open like onions and salad fixings. Everything stays nice and fresh. The size is great compared to the tiny boxes of 20 you get at the store for ridiculously exorbitant prices. A box lasts me about a month or two depending on when I do bulk buys of meats.

Have used these for Freezing Berries/Veggies/Meats and
anything else one wants to freeze - Using the 'suck almost ALL air out w/straw' gives an additional 'vacuum pack' tightness. Since the Large machines not used by us, and we do put up servings for two this is perfect. [Bags can be re-used also]Ziploc Double Zipper Heavy Duty Quart Freezer Bags (216 Bags)Tired of waiting for local stores 'Random' sales that may or may not equal this low cost. In 54 cnt boxes making an extra convenience for cupboard storage. One can always freeze products after preparing in a container that fits the bag then transfer - just did this with 5# very thinly sliced potatoes - for Au Gratin at a later time. For the 'straw method' - seal food in - pressing air out - seal across until just enuff of an opening to insert a straw - Guide in any direction/ 'Extract' excess air out pinching the end of straw as you draw it to the opening / - 'Click last into place' U will see the actual 'vacuum' effect and hear the last sealing click. As well as using for opened veggie packs - *Name Brand* sales that are only 12oz now instead of the 16oz they were. As well as the large Fries etc.Have had foods in freezer for 6mos and have had 'no breaking open' whatsoever when shuffling stuff around. If many multiples of an item - ie Mini-carrots/Broccoli Tops/Berries - put into a plastic grocery bag for lifting in and out. We have found so-called 'Freezer organizer baskets' to be a real pain.

Does what it is meant to do.
This Ziploc bag does what it is meant to do. It allows me to maintain a weak vacuum (or rather, air free) solution by using the water displacement method. That is, I zip the bag most of the way with the food/meat inside. I then submerge the bag with the food into a tub of water making sure the top is just above the water surface. The water pressure in the surround tube pushes the excess air out of the bag. I then seal the ziploc bag completely leaving me with a pretty much air tight bag. This allows me to store the food for much longer without it spoiling and also allows for an easy solution to sou vide cooking. The double zipper holds the vacuum much better than the single press-to-seal ziploc bag, which is important if you are doing sou vide cooking and want to submerge the bag inside warm water to cook it. The worst thing that can happen is for water from the sou vide cooker to enter the bag, rendering your marinate useless and dirtying the water tank. This is a quick solution and cheaper than buying an expensive vacuum sealing machine.

Great Deal! Saves Money!
Every trout season we spend at LEAST $25 on freezer bags, then small game, then doe season, buck season, we spend even more!! My husband hunts & fishes, and my entire family are all avid outdoorsmen. I am always on the lookout for freezer bags on sale, at all times. With the price of freezer bags in stores, I never have enough. Now, I do at a great, affordable price. Also, we buy assorted meats in bulk when they are on sale, and we portion them up in meal sizes, accordingly. I freeze everything from strawberries & raspberries to beef/pork/venison, to homemade candies. What a bargain, and a money saver!! I live in a rural area, the nearest grocery is 30 miles away. What a time and money saver for my family! Also, I save the 'Boxtops For Education', points for our local school, every little bit helps in todays economy. My grandkids look forward to helping their school.Never again will I need to drive to store for freezer bags!!With the price of fishing & hunting licenses always increasing and then the price of ammo, this is definitely one of the best deals I have found on Amazon.Thank You!

like some earlier reviewers
I was concerned about buying these because, like some earlier reviewers, I had one bad experience with Ziploc bags. I have a large garden and freeze a lot of food every year. The bad experience was as others described: bags had a rough side edge and leaked air. In that instance, I contacted Ziploc, and they were more than gracious in issuing me coupons for free bags. (Subsequent bags did not have the flaw.) This box of 216 bags has been perfect so far, which is to say I've used about 50 bags and all have sealed and show no signs of any air leakage.I think it was about two years ago that I had the leaky bags - about the same time as other people who complained of them here - and so I feel quite confident that Ziploc has addressed whatever caused the problem. Ziploc is the best freezer bag, in my opinion, and I've been using them for many years. Yes, 5 stars.
