Q: what exactly is this for? can I put the Leds in my fog lights without using this? and if not how many do i have to buy one for each fog light?

This is just so you can run you fog lights as fog lights with your headlights on, so it's not just day time running lights and you only need one of these harness' to do both

Q: where does this item plug into

Plugs into the passenger side fog lights. The adapter literally plugs right in to it. Its easy to find and the plug is purple just like the adaptor so there is literally no confusion. If you have ramps its a 5 minute job. If you're jacking it up maybe 10minutes

Q: when installed, will the then drl lights, now fog lights with headlights on at night , will the go out when high beam is used as most fog lights do?

No they stay on they are wired to the parking lights so as long as the parking lights are on the fog / dlr reminds on.

Q: if you dont want the fog lights on with the headlights, can you switch it so you just have the headlights on? or will the fog lights always be on?

The fog lights will always be on you turn the dog lights off the headlights go out
