Q: Why are the black ones $3 more than the white ones?

the back is fully magnetic..no strips..just a solid magnetic backing..

Q: Did you have a hard time getting photo into the pocket? I'm used to the hard plastic frames but cannot find.

I did have a bit of a hard time. Had to curl the photo into a "u" shape and I squeezed the frame on either side to make a "tube" to slide the photo in. My wife has plastered, not only the fridge but also, the upstairs steel door in our bonus room that leads into the attic with pictures.
