Q: How do you clean them? Just soap and water doesn't seem to get the black off them. Can I soak them in a mild bleach solution without damaging them?

I clean them with mild soap and water with the perfect little brushes in the guards and the holes in the feeder itself. I rinse them in a water/white vinegar solution. You should never use bleach on the feeders or guards. It never rinses clean and leaves a hatful residue. Acetic Acid evaporates completely and removes any soap residue left behind. If you have black guards in your feeder you are not cleaning them nearly enough!!

Q: How many tips come with this package?

Pretty sure it was 12. My feeder has three ports, and I've been using my package for three years now. One set will last the whole summer. The clean easily when dirty with Q-tips, then go right back on the feeder. Wonderful little invention!

Q: What feeders do this product fit?

We used the Aspects 429 Hummzinger Highview Feeder, http://www.amazon.com/Aspects-429-Hummzinger-Highview-Feeder/dp/B003XL7WZO/ref=lh_ni_t?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2FP3WC79CXYXU, and it works perfectly. It took our hummers a few tries to realize they had to push through the "nipple" of the guard, but now they don't have a problem and it keeps the bees away, than goodness. I think the other Aspects hummer feeders would work with it as well; but I don't think the oriole feeders would work with it.

Q: Just started using, hummers don't seem to be able to penetrate the membranes&are not using the feeder. Any help?

Will they use the feeder without the guard tips? Is your feeder VERY CLEAN? The entire feeder must be cleaned each time BEFORE refilling. If there is the least bit of mildew anywhere, they will leave. They are very fastidious about their dining environment!
