Doesn't work for me - UPDATE
Despite the unit being in direct sunlight for most of the daylight hours, it didn't seem to charge the battery for when the camera is actually in use during the night. It's disappointing, but to be fair it could be a faulty unit. So I will be returning this unit for a replacement to see how that goes.UPDATE...So following a somewhat negative experience initially, the Blink team reached out and quickly provided a replacement unit along with support emails to make sure all was well. The replacement unit appears to be working as expected, so the original one must have been faulty... which happens from time to time.I've been very impressed with the Blink team doing all they could to resolve the problem and ensure customer satisifaction, so I now feel confident to add more Blink products to my set-up. Thank you Blink team.

2 year life?
I have owned the Blink solar mount and camera for just over 2 years now and wish I had just stuck to replaceable batteries as it would have been cheaper! After 2 years the camera was reporting low battery and then died a few days later. I replaced the lithium disposable in the camera itself only for it to fail again a few days later. Checking online it seems the rechargeable battery inside the mount fails. 1st problem is a suitable battery is not available from Amazon. 2nd problem is the size and capacity isn't generally available and you are left with finding one from dubious online suppliers. Perhaps I was unlucky but the one to the required spec has failed after a week and these batteries are not cheap either. I'm going to junk the solar and just stick with putting in disposable. One other point when 1st purchased the mount refused to work and was replaced and this is the second mount supplied.

*edit* doesn't charge
Update.Blink got in touch with me and where the product didn't charge on solar they sent me a replacement unit. New unit works perfectly I must have just been unlucky with the one I had.Great customer service highly recommend***********Got this for my back garden so could mouth the camera high up and not worry about changing it. I've tried 3 different brands of batteries both solar charge and normal and unfortunately every time the camera has ran flat in a few months. The camera it's self is brilliant I've 4 and they pick up good sound and motion. Sadly just the solar panel was the let down I was hoping to get a few more for the other cameras if this worked but I'll just stick with swapping batteries out every few months and trying my self. The mount it self is good quality and easy to fit sadly the main reason for buying didn't work

Good idea to save batteries. If it worked
EDIT. 8 days later and it is no longer showing as an external power source and the camera battery is in the red. The unit is obviously not working. I am still waiting for the, to reply to my email of two days ago.EDIT. Customer support finally sent me a new battery for the unit, which seems to have solved it. My only issue was the long response times to my messages, making the problem last much longer than it needed to.My solar charging panel worked for about a month. After that the camera wasn’t even seeing it. I contacted support and they gave me suggestions to try, none of which helped. Their emails only come through one per day so it has been over two weeks now and their latest suggestion was to replace the battery in the panel. They are an unusual type and I couldn’t even find them for sale on Amazon! I am getting really fed up with blink now. I am not getting a decent system and paying £8 a month for it.

Works well
Have the blink outdoor connected and it's been running for 7 hours during the day and 8 hours over night for 10 days now, it gets sun from around 11 till sun set not that there is a lot in winter but camera reports batteries as good. So working well.Month later after 2 weeks of dull grey sky battrys gave up and camera is now off line, going to get a set of batteries and charge them then replace existing ones as don't think sunlight in winter will give much charge to the fitted ones.Took time to fine the 18650 batteries is a protected vertion not an unprotected one and so is around 3 ti 4 mm longer, now have 3 of them. After fully charging them I find that the first new one has so far lasted 2 months (02/01/25) and still shows as good. May be an idea to fully charge the 18650 in a charger before using the solar mount.

Works for a while then stopped and doesn't charge
I brought 2 of them. The first one worked for a few weeks then stopped working. The second one lasted worked for at least 6 months and now doesn't work.Trying to find a better version of it that's not so bulky
