Q: Can you use two of them if you want to run two external monitors

I am using two of these to run two separate external displays. The trick I found was to find the USB folder as a separate disk drive. It loaded and installed when I made a direct connection of this device to my one standard USB port on my laptop. Then I reconnected these devices through a Sabrent USB 3.0 multiport device https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00SIQIV04/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Then the two separate HDMI cables worked directly connected to the two external displays. Then, I was able to switch the two external monitors between two laptops by connecting them through the HMDI switches from Benfei at https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DNB98HH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. This success would NOT have been possible without the help from another comment here about how to find the device driver for the USB-HDMI provided by this product.

Q: Can i use this to connect a fire stick on an older tv with only a usb jack?

Probably won't work. On older TVs the USB jack is only there to allow software updates/factory programming. This device is not bidirectional anyway so it only goes from usb video to hdmi.

Q: Why do I see two cursors? Is there some setting in the driver that can be changed?

It's probably a flaw in the driver code or even a hardware flaw in the conversion. That's not uncommon in devices sourced like this one.

Q: Does this adapter support CEC protocol?

It really doesn't support any protocol including USB or HDMI. Both of the ones I tried were non-functional out of the box.
