Edit: Two years later and still going strong! The phone still looks new when taken from the case. The case has held up with daily use. When I upgrade to a new phone next year I’ll look to buy the same case.To start, I really feel this should be under the commuter series and not the defender series. The size and profile is much more in line with the commuter series it is replacing than the defender series I have had previously. It is absolutely the sweet spot however. The MagSafe works very well and has been without issue with my magsafe phone mount in my off-roader. The case itself is sturdy and has plenty of lip to protect the screen and cameras. The case is also nice and smooth on the back to keep it from being a pain while getting in and out of a pocket, while also having nice grip on the sides to make it easy to hold. I wish I would have grabbed this case first before my commuter as it is essentially a beefier commuter with MagSafe.

I purchased this case after two frustrating tries with the Commuter series for iPhone 13 Pro Max. The Commuter does not fit tightly on the upper half of the phone. The rubber is real flimsy and loose and will get worse over time from everyday handling. It was bulging outward away from the volume and sleep buttons and was getting unsightly. In comes the Defender XT to the rescue! It was a pain to install, but after it was on, it fits like it should. Tight all the way around! It's pretty much the same thickness of the Commuter, so it will still slide easily in and out of a pocket. No issues with wireless charging either. Glad I got this one, I'm finally happy.

Otterbox defender cases are a must for any phone I have. I worked on repairing phones for Att and can say nothing protects them better! They’re designed great and have a nice feel. This purchase was a replacement for my original I purchased about 4-5 years ago. I do wish they offered more colors, but at least black goes with everything. Love that this model offered wireless charging and MagSafe even though it’s a lot thicker than most cases.

The quality isn’t too bad just some parts of the edges start coming apart. The grip could be better and it is a bit hard to get your phone in and out if you need to clean it.

This case is really a mashup between the traditional defender case and a case Otterbox made several years ago but discontinued (I can’t recall the name but it had a clear back and a rugged lip, port protection, and a wrist lanyard strap). Anyway, this new Otterbox defender case is a hybrid and I love it. It has port protection which is great if you’re exposed to dust or sand. The lip is raised to protect the screen but doesn’t interfere with a screen protector or use of phone. The MagSafe works great for a wallet or magnetic pop socket. And best of all, it has an attachment point for a wrist lanyard, something I consider a necessity with a larger phone. While I’m also a fan of Mous cases, this Otterbox case is my go-to for days at the beach and more rugged adventures.
